Our stay at Little Carthage was truly an unforgettable experience. Being welcomed to africa by the most amazing hostess I have ever met and surroundings I will never forget. Coming from the Netherlands I was in South Africa for the first time together with my boyfriend which used to work in South Africa as a game ranger. We were both equally impressed by this accomodation. The hostess Heather welcomed us the first day with her two adorable dogs Pirate and Dumpling. She made us feel at home and she ensured us that if we needed anything we only needed to ask. The cottages are simple but you really do not need more with an outside space like that and the nature around you. The fireplace is emptied every morning by her handyman Willy and restocked with plenty of firewood. If you run out during the nights you can get more wood yourself. Great price/quality ratio!!! We went for a hike in the Ndlovumzi reserve to see the wonderfull waterfalls. A great advantage of not being a big five reserve is that you can make your own drives and walks whenever you want. When you want to enjoy a nice sun downer you can either take your can to a nice spot or you can enjoy the deck or the lookout point that Little Carthage provides. With a cool drink in one hand and a snack in the other you can hear the river stream and while enjoying the firepit, gaze at the sunset.
We stayed 3 days at first and after one we decided to come back with friends the following week. Little Carthage is an amazing place to entertain(so much space!!) as well as a romantic getaway. I recommend this place to anyone, young/old, kids/no kids, couple/family/group. There are just no more words to describe it, so I suggest to anyone that is interested that they go and find out themselves!
