Wether you are looking for a lovely couple retreat, a family holiday or a friends get together, this stunning private thatched lodge embracing a beautifully kept shaded garden around a cute refreshing pool after a hot day in the Bush is the perfect choice near Kruger Park. Many other good sites to visit during the day around this estate but the most fantastic time is when you return to the lodge to enjoy a sunset at one of the walking distance dam and observe the girafes and zebras drink before dark.... the. Watch the Bush babies jumping from tree to tree in front of the kitchen and finally relax by the boma with a glass of Sauvignon blanc.
The professionally interior designed bedrooms and living room arranged by the owner with precious material ( antique and colonial furniture) is a delight of comfort and serenity.
Highly recommended to nature and design lovers.
Can not wait to share this secret jewel with our friends.
The beautiful house is in a gated community where wildlife walks around and keeps you amazed when you venture out, when you sit by the pool or simply when you look out the window. It is a great place for families or even friends, as it has three double bedrooms which all have separate entrances, which makes it quite private.
If you don't like to travel around too much it is a great location to do day trips as there is so much to do nearby.
Besides Safaris, I suggest a visit for example, the Endangered Species Centre, the Rehabilitation Centre for wildlife, and what we did, for the more adventurous a flight on a microlight and Helicopter.
Near the entrance of the wildlife estate there is a supermarket for groceries for the time spent at the house/pool.
For restaurants, the Hat and Creek was ma favourite.
Wow!! This place is absolutely outstanding. No detail has been overlooked. We found it to be extremely comfortable & relaxing. It’s a beautiful, safe location. With plenty of wildlife wandering around. We hope to come back
I have high standards and this did not disappoint. Pangolin Lodge has been refurbished to the highest standards with no expense spared. As soon as you walk into the Lodge you are greeted by stunning art work on the walls, stylish local antiques and quirky interesting artefacts. Every comfort and detail has been thought of but in an incredibly stylish way. From the practical utility room with all the white goods and ice machine to a large stylish open planned kitchen with all mod cons. The exceptionally comfortable open planned living area (with Scrabble and other games) spills out onto an outside dining area overlooking a very pretty garden and bomer area around a central plunge pool. The garden magically lights up at night with pretty solar powered fairy lights. The bedrooms are individually furnished with exceptionally comfortable beds, ample storage and generous en-suites. With giraffes walking up the drive, zebra walking past the front door and a family of wart hogs visiting to be fed with the maize left by the owner I couldn't have wished to have stayed anywhere else. Fab restaurants a ten minute drive away and KNP just half an hour drive I really cannot recommend this place enough.
This was my first visit to South Africa and I could not have chosen a more perfect location. The lodge itself is decorated to the highest standards throughout with all the mod cons including an ice machine (perfect for gin and tonics), dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, TV, DVD player, games, books, fluffy white towels, crisp linen etc etc. It sits in the middle of the Hoesdpruit Wildlife Estate so you have the perfect match of domestic luxury and wilderness. It is not every day you wake up to see an impala, warthog or giraffe out of your window! The Kruger Park Orpen Gate is just half an hour away and there are many excellent Lodges and reserves to visit including the Tshukudu Game Lodge and Karongwe River Lodge. We also enjoyed the Camp Jabulani Elephant Experience where you get to meet the elephants close up and feed them. There are many good restaurants in the town including the Hat and Creek and Sleepers for supper and the best breakfast of Eggs Benedict at Cooked Hoedspruit. Or you can just sit in the boma and cook the tenderest fillet of beef on the braai after a dip in the plunge pool and a laze on the sun loungers. I cannot recommend Pangolin Lodge highly enough - it is obviously very much loved and cared for by its owner and is definitely not a run of the mill rental place. Do yourself a favour and book!
Pangolin Lodge is such a beautiful place to stay in. The owner Rachel was so helpful and as it was our honeymoon she had even left a beautiful welcome card and bottle of wine! The Wildlife Estate is a great location to stay and we saw many animals around us including giraffes and warthogs! Hoedspruit is such a lovely town to visit. The house is so beautifully styled and has everything you need including a great outdoor entertaining and BBQ area, pool and even an ice machine. It was a very South African luxury stay.
We stayed at Pangolin Lodge for 2 nights in July and words cannot express how fabulous it was. I have travelled extensively and have never stayed anywhere so tastefully decorated stylish and simply exquisite.Spacious and comfortably sleeps six, cooking facilities are excellent as are the
bathrooms. A nice pool, outdoor dining and seating area and large bbq in the garden.
Hoedspruit is a lovely small town with all necessary amenities.
