“Good Value”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

We went to lunch today and ordered oysters amongst other starters and my husband called the manager as the oysters were not up to standard. The two men had tried 4 oysters between them and my husband was quite prepared to pay for the ones they ate but the manager said no ways and please order something else. He then brought a complementary bottle of wine as an apology which my husband was really impressed with! Can only say thank you as these days very often it's take it or leave it attitude!!! The rest of our meal was lovely and the service was great. We had our 5year old niece with us and her chicken strips and chips was an adult portion and really moist and tasty! She loved the kids play area. The menu is quite varied and really good value will definitely return.

“Cheap and Cheerful, good specials and child friendly”
Reviewed June 2, 2014

An ideal stop for a quick, cheap lunch with the kids whilst shopping. Sushi for Mum, Calamari for Dad and fresh fish and chips for the kids, who thankfully, get distracted by the playground or games room, while the adults eat.

“Average experience”
Reviewed May 11, 2014

We have been a John Dory's many times, especially for the family restaurant atmosphere. Let's face it, it is a chain restaurant (part of the Spur family), and one should not expect "fine cuisine" when eating there. On most nights, the quality is fair and in line with expectations. On busy days, line cooks are pressed for quantities rather that quality, service seems hectically busy but in a total disarray, poor control at the pass, and you end up with oil-sogged overcook fish. This is not based on a once off experience. We have learnt out lesson: Go there on quieter days :)
