Whenever I need to get away to recharge my batteries, I go back to the Kingfisher Country House. The owners, Phil and Sue, are 2 of the most special people you could meet. Their knowledge of the area is amazing. That's apart from the fact that they welcome guests like members of their family.
One doesn't have to move further than the patio to experience an abundance of bird life.
I have seen mongoose and buck in the garden. It's a mini-wildlife park all set in a sumptuous environment.
I am addicted to both the Kingfisher Country House and the Wilderness area. This is quiet place is heaven on earth and a well-kept secret.

We had three marvelous days in May, Sue and Phil were most welcoming, the house and surroundings were lovely and the Bird Watching (which we went for) was superb You can also expect a breakfast that will fill you up for the day all home cooking and the most wonderful healthy muffins.
The area round there is tranquil with animals and birds popping into view. Can't wait for our next trip

I recently spent a week at the Kingfisher Country House with my parents and girlfriend. The weather was excellent for autumn and the house and hosts (Sue & Phil) were absolutely fantastic. They were always ready with advice and never once did they give bad or incorrect information, from where to go for dinner or what to look at or where to walk they knew exactly what they were talking about. The breakfasts were sumptuous and really prepared one for a day of walking and hiking and the accompanying songs from the birds in the garden made it perfect.

The rooms are fantastically appointed and everything has been thought of.

We were made welcome and it felt less like a B&B and like staying with old friends! We are already looking at the next few yeara and planning our return visit!

Whilst travelling along the garden route we planned to stop in Wilderness for a couple of nights, but was extended to three. The location is beautiful offering superb sandy beaches, lagoon, local markets, national park, adventure trips yet also very peaceful.
We stayed at the Kingfisher Country House following a review on Trip Advisor, the house is situated slightly away from the town area (approx 1 km), based on the fringe of the National Park. The location is very tranquil and pretty, the garden of the house is home to a number of beautiful national birds, including the Lowry; we also saw bush buck and a wild pig here.
Sue and Phil are genuinely friendly and helpful hosts, they advised us of good places to visit and how best to use our time during the stay at Wilderneee and further along the coast The rooms are large, spacious and comfortable, the breakfasts are superb, with home cooking at its best,.
We stayed at many B & B's along the way, but the stay here was truly memorable, we were genuinely treated like guests rather than a '''business'.
I would recommend this place to anyone who appreciates nature, birds and who enjoys genuine hospitality......

Restaurants - the Girls, in the forecourt of the petrol station. Absolutely superb

Sue and Phil are the greatest hosts, listening to your likes and dislikes and pointing you in exactly the right direction. Wonderfully cosy rooms with relaxing, enchanting veranda where breakfast is served with home cooked muffins and local produce, delicious! Knysna Lourie (renamed Turaco's) may join you for breakfast along with other beautiful SA wildlife. Totally relaxing, heaven on earth.
