Kevin and Elsie who run Interlaken really were very hospitable. We had booked for five nights but loved it so much we extended our stay. The rooms are beautifully furnished, light and airy, with absolutely everything you need for a comfortable stay. Elsie was kind enough to book our trip to Addo National Park and recommended good accommodation. If you want total peace and quiet this is the place to stay. Kevin also does a really good braai!

Kevin and Elsie are wonderful hosts. They gave us the honeymoon suite (we were celebrating our 25th Weddding Anniversary) with a most wonderful view and they made us feel very special. The previous review mentions Gordon Ramsay but I would say more like Michel Roux as Kevin is a very polite English gentleman on top of being an excellent cook! Elsie has a wonderful outgoing personality and we took to them both instantly.
We hope to return next year to Interlaken Guest House with our two sons.

Room Tip: They are all with wonderful views but the Honeymoon Suite is the most secluded.

This is our forth visit to Wilderness and each time we have chosen Interlaken, it is so relaxing and perfect for winding down with the remarkable hosts Kevin and Elsie. Their forte is to ensure your stay is memorable and relaxing.

All their rooms have breathtaking views over the Island Lake and Wilderness Nature Reserve. So perfect waking up in the mornings with the sun and the relaxing view from the bedroom.

From our arrival, both Kevin and Elsie greeted us like old friends, always friendly and helpful. Always ready to assist in suggesting places to visit and restaurants to eat in the evenings.

This is an interesting Guest House, set just of the main road with easy parking at the front within the property. All rooms and their adjacent balconies overlook the fantastic views to the rear.

Breakfasts are to die for, individually cooked to order by Chef Kevin the ‘Gordon Ramsay’ of Wilderness.

Wilderness is the centre of so many interests, canoeing, the beach, the view of the Map of Africa and the amazing walk along the old railway to Victoria Bay.

We would love to visit Kevin and Elsie again at Interlaken next year for a longer stay if there is room.

Room Tip: The Honeymoon Suite is spacious with the best views and privacy.

My wife and I are really glad to have chose Interlaken. The view of the lake and the mountains from our Sunbird suite was amazing. The suite was also really private. We managed to enjoy wonderful food in Wilderness thanks to Elsie's recommendation to dine at The Girls restaurant, and also Kevin's culinary skills - breakfast was delicious. We enjoyed our post-breakfast chat with Kevin & Elsie too, they clearly take pride in doing their work well. Overall, a lovely experience.

We had a wonderful nights stopover in early January with fantastic views of the lakes and mountains and a first class breakfast from kevin and Elsie to help us on our way. We went canoeing on the river next morning which was another delight.

We decided to stay at Interlaken for 4 nights in November, thinking it could be a place where we could unwind on our trip. It exceeded our expectations! Kevin and Elsie were wonderful hosts, who really seemed to enjoy what they were doing. I was having some back trouble, and Elsie took me to her therapist in George, and it did the trick. The other highlight was sitting on the terrace watching the birdlife, both in the garden (sunbirds, shrikes and swifts) and down on the lake (marsh harriers and a fish eagle!).

Stayed here with three friends in mid-December. We had two suites and both were excellent. Immaculate and stylish with amazing views. The views are not of the ocean but rather of a big park and lake just in from the ocean. Stunning in a different way than a view of the ocean - I found it more peaceful.

The hosts are delightful and we spend a while chatting with them after breakfast. Truly enjoy their work.

Cannot recommend this place enough.

Room Tip: All the rooms have great views.
