Stayed for three nights - definetly not enough time for the area. Enjoyed the
stay at the Guest Villa so much - beautiful interior and views, direct on the
beach, see and listen to the ocean from the bathtub! or from the garden.
Beautiful sunsets, morning walk along the many km of beach is a great way to
start the day - gracious, friendly people. Drove up north and south from
Wilderness - as far as I am concerned the best place to stay and the most
beautiful of beaches in 100 km radius!

We stayed at this b&b in March and what a b&b shame to call it that really more like a five star hotel
with friendly owners
where do you geta a b&b that even brings sunloungers out for you
not in britain anyway even when the sun does shine
we found the whole experience
just wonderful and cant speak highly enough i consider pevious comments on decor unfair
how on earth can you cater for every taste
this is a place not to be missed

We spent 4 nights over Easter long weekend and we enjoyed every minute...the accommodation was luxurious and comfortable...2 small children were accommodated without any problems...the breakfast catered for everyone and the easter bunny even left a surprise for the kids, to their great delight...
The sea views are great and the hosts always friendly. It is clear that they enjoy what they do.
The Wilderness is a wonderful destination and we will certainly be back!

Room Tip: Book a room with a sea view. Well worth the additional charge

Stayed here for a couple of nights in February -agree with a couple of reviewers who found it a little over the top in decor and was surprised to see carpet everywhere - ok in bedrooms but odd in public areas when by the sea. But prefer over-fussy to not caring. Views superb, breakfast wonderful. Host could do with a bit more information on local walking trails.

Dear Ness & Dorma,
Thank you for scoring full marks for XANADU.
We , Albert & Tersia , the owner/managers 24/7 would love to do the hiking trails ourselves , but we never find the time as we are attending to our guests at all times, carry luggage , pour drinks , make tea or coffee , give advice on restaurants and make dinner bookings for our guests , give brochures on activities and sightseeing and make bookings for T- off times for golf, that is besides day to day management functions that keep us occupied between 06h00 and midnight.
But do not pity us , we enjoy every minute of it , only problem is that we have not been able to find the time (or energy!) to do the hiking/canoeing thing!!
We promise that it is first on our to do list , as soon as we have a free day.
Otherwise , please enjoy your retirement in the south of France and hope to have you as our guests again in future.
Regards ,
Albert & Tersia

After a week's sightseeing in Cape Town, we stayed at Xanadu Guest Villa to "chill out" for 8 wonderful days earlier this month and had a truly memorable experience. If you want luxury accommodation with great service, located on a largely deserted beach with breathtaking sea views, then Xanadu is hard to beat. The hosts Albert and Tersia are dedicated to providing a great holiday experience with high level customer service. They are on hand when needed and nothing is too much trouble for them.
Having driven from Cape Town, Albert welcomed us on arrival, carried our bags and provided welcoming drinks. He showed us round the villa, booked our evening meal at a nearby steak restaurant. and recommended other restaurants to visit.
All suites are very comfortable and spacious - we stayed 3 nights in the Dolphin Suite with fantastic sea views and 5 nights in the Starfish suite. It's worth paying the extra to stay in one of the rear suites to gaze out to sea and catch sight of the dolphins. With the quiet location and sea air, we slept very well.
Breakfast is plentiful and an opportunity to meet the other guests and swap stories and places to visit, or you can eat in your room. The grounds are designed to give some privacy for guests wanting to sunbathe, with sunbeds and beach towels provided, and the small pool is a refreshing dip on a hot day. The beach is easily accessible - unlike other accommodation further along the coast where it is reached by long flights of steps.
Wilderness is an ideal location as a relaxing base to see the Garden Route, thus avoiding frequent moves, with visitor attractions in and around the other towns such as Mossel Bay, Knysna, and Plettenburg Bay within an hour's easy drive along the N2. It has a variety of inexpensive restaurants (compared with Cape Town) and all local conveniences.
If you prefer to keep your own company in a minimalist style of accommodation, then Xanadu is not for you. We made an inspired choice and most other guests passing through wished they had stayed for longer. Thanks Albert and Tersia, we'll be back to recharge our batteries another time.

Room Tip: Choose a suite with a sea view and pay the extra - it is worth it.

Stayed here in 2010 and liked it so much stayed again in 2011 both on the way up the coast and again back down. The reason is that the location, style and attention to details is superb. Directly on one of the best beaches( so few people it was almost private) I have been to. There were 3 of us and we stayed in the penthouse complete with our own private terrace overlooking the Ocean. Wilderness is a truly special place and as regular visitors to SA we always stay a couple of days and will deifintely be going back to Xanadu Thanks to everyone for another great stay.

Room Tip: We have stayed in 3 different rooms now, they're all great.

The location is absolutely divine, up on the dunes so close to the beach, great views! If people are not sensitive towards an overdecorated interior (Russia meets Dubai) or is 75+, fine! Breakfast was not really tempting with an old Nutella jar and cheeses and cold meats sweating behind cling film. For that is was completely overpriced, but owner and dog were very friendly indeed.

Dear Thandiblu,
• After a year has gone by your memory must be failing you, the breakfast at XANADU consist of all sorts of cereal, variety of fresh fruit platter , yoghurt , toast, fruit juice, milk, coffee , tea ,variety of spreads, bacon ,tomatoe , mushrooms, variety of sausages ,fried eggs, scrambled eggs ,poached eggs, omelette , scones , muffins ,variety of cold meat cuts, variety of cheeses .Some cheeses are packaged slice by slice in a protective hygienic "plastic" envelope and is for the benefit of the user and only removed before used .Hope this explains this madness to you? Our cold cuts of meat has never been presented in or behind cling film. We have never had Nutella?
• Your depiction of the breakfast at XANADU is a fantasy. Read the guest comments of our other guests! Why did you not complain to Tersia or Albert??
• What you see on our website is what you will find at Xanadu. Xanadu is not ordinary but SPECIAL. For ordinary accommodation there are the Holiday Inn and Wilderness Beach Hotel as well as all the other lower ranked accommodation facilities.
• Notice that you have the same comment of “From Russia with Love” posted for Pigalle Restaurant Johannesburg which you visited also in April 2011. Did you get us mixed up with your copying and pasting?
• Every painting (original) and every piece of furniture in Xanadu was collected and sourced over a period of 40 years and put together with loving care and great taste, resulting in a very special classy final product, with great ambiance, as we are everyday reminded with compliments from appreciating, knowledgeable guests.
• At XANADU we practice what we preach and we believe in our quality of excellent 5 star service delivery ;If we cannot deliver the advertised accommodation/service/product or comply to a reasonable guest complaint within a reasonable time , you stay for free or get your money back – fair enough ??

Regards
Albert & Tersia Hoffmann
