Whilst I cannot argue that the position and style (getting a bit dated in places) is excellent, I would say that the customer services side of things need looked after.

We arrived at 14.00 to find that no electricity would be on until 21.00 that night, having confirm the reservation with a credit card we were not offered to not check in and try somewhere else.

We the struggled heavy suitcases down two flights of stairs without any help to our quickly darking room.

We decided to go out for a meal and return at 21.00 to watch some TV and catch up with emails only to find the place in complete darkness and a few lite candels on the stairs to guide the way to our completely dark room.

The owner did ot seem to make any provision for lighting the rooms by the way of candels or other forms of lighting (broke a very expensive glass jug that we had been given due to tripping over it during the night).

Come morning we found that electricity had returned at 3.00 just in time to have our first luke warm shower, one would have thought that in lieu of all of this upset one would have been offered some discount....but no life went on even charging for a bottle of beer I had earlier in the evening.

Whilst I do not expect the owner to magically get some electricity I feel that there was a complete lack of customer care and would suggest that you look instead to Villaafrikana in Knysna a short distance away with superb rooms, views and owners.

Dear unknown guest,

After receving your negative report re service I discussed your mentioned facts with my 2 personal staff.

Nor them or me recognise or remember the facts re luggage doing yourself (2 stairs down) and
your need for information, that one of us would tell you: reed your info book in the room.

We operate daily just the opposite of what write in your review.

Hope you can read German and Italian guest reviews, so that you can reed what I mean.
We are a helpfull team and we will stay that way.

We are sorry, that we did not forfill your needs during your stay.

Kind regards

We stayed for one night in mid-February. The house is relatively new (finished in 2010) and the rooms are well appointed with high end furnishings and fixtures.

My wife loved the bathroom (which in room 4 at least) was divided into three sections -- again, lovely fixtures and a large shower. Real care and attention to detail by an owner that obviously cares.

The views of the ocean are spectacular and the photos do not do justice to what you will see. We were driving the Garden Route from Cape Town and wished we could have stayed another night.

Final note: we were greeted by the owner on arrival who was friendly and attentive. He arranged a car for us so we could attend at a local restaurant and was quite helpful. The review in Frommer's guide about this gentlemen does not square with our impressions of him. Highly recommended!

This house is a fabulous example of minimalist style, design and elegance! All rooms have unbelievable views over the enormous Wilderness beach, the whole house seems to be made of glass and the decking and pool is just a lovely place to chill out and watch the incredible sunsets. You can walk straight down to the beach. The owner is very friendly and everything is classy and beautifully designed. Great breakfast, robes, big rooms, walk- in showers, beautiful lounge-you feel you are living the millionaires lifestyle! We loved it here, it's very safe and Wilderness is a very calm, quiet and laid back place. The sea does crash in, however and once or twice it woke us up! A small price to pay for such truly incredible location and quality! We loved it.

Room Tip: Most rooms open straight out onto the big, shared deck, but one room has its own private balcony.

Perfect location right on the beach. Stunning view from every single room.

A modern, minimalistic high quality villa that definitely deserves its five star rating. However, the service doesn't really match the exterior.

Room Tip: The cheaper rooms are as good as the more expensive ones. All have an amazing view. I would opt for...

a very beautiful and luxurious hotel right on the beach. the welcome was very warm and the rooms and the views were breathtaking. I loved the very large bathroom and modern furnishings. from the terrace there is a direct access to the beach which invites for sports or take a walk. not to forget - the breakfast. fresh fruits. delicious nespresso coffee and everything the heart desires freshly prepared.

We stayed in August 2011 for 2 nights...we got a sea facing room on 3rd floor, the view from here was just too good...this hotel is on a cliff almost 10 floors above beach, therefore there was total privacy and we never put on curtains and enjoyed sea and sky view thoroghly.the food and drinks prices were one of most reasonable in South Africa..free internet in room...the only dispoinment was spa...we both booked separate full body massage, but it was only half body massage...the massage was not worth free...we did not go to the beach as it was very cold and windy,I think in summer it must be crowded...don't miss this hotel but only in sea facing rooms.

Stayed here as part of my recent South Africa trip and could not have been more satisfied with this place. I made a more than reasonably priced "stay 3, pay 2 nights" arrangement at short notice and found the property to be very stylish with all beautiful views of the ocean. Both management and staff is extremely friendly and professional, thanks again for helpful advice on things to see and do as well as some gorgeous breakfast - while watching whales play. All in all a wonderful stay in a memorable location with a very relaxed atmosphere - wished I could return soon. Thanks again!
