I’ve stayed in most of the sea-facing rooms over the past few years. They’re all large, airy, furnished and equipped to provide every comfort, and decorated with impeccable taste. Each also has its own patio with loungers.
The views of the Indian Ocean are magnificent in all weathers and seasons. A short walk down the dune garden lands you right on the pristine and all but deserted beach. A word of caution: check the tide movements before going for longer walks on the beach: don’t get stranded. Also watch out for dangerous currents: swim where others do, closer to the village, a couple of hundred metres’ walk along the shore.
General: great breakfast, attentive management and staff – what they offer is something far more personal than ‘service’. Excellent choice of cafes and restaurants in Wilderness, among them the wonderful Beejuice in the old station house, The Girls and the more formal and expensive Serendipity. The village is within walking distance but you need to drive there at night. If I could afford anything in the world, this is what I would choose.More
