My fiancee and I were traveling on the Garden Route and we just started calling around guesthouses listed in the Garden Route travel book. We booked with Limberlost because it was cheap (R160 per person a night) and it seemed like a nice place from the picture.
How misled we were! We temporarily thought this is a hidden gem but eventually found out that you get what you pay. It seemed like a very nice with a big room with high roof and a big bathroom. When we looked around to see if there was a heater or a thermostat, we realized there isn't one and we are getting what we paid for. The roof is thatched so it does not keep out cold spring air so well (the temperature was hovering low teens, if not single digit in Celcius). Maybe it was the thatched roof but the moldy smell in the room was unbearable. There were 2 comforters on the bed but it was still too cold. And who knows when they last washed the comforters since there was no folded sheet to "shield" you from touching the comforter.
In the end, it was a cheap stay but I was glad to be out of there after one night. Oh yeah, it's cash only.
