“Outstanding food and service - don't let the location fool you”
Reviewed February 6, 2012

We were in Wilderness for 4 nights, and two of them we went to 'The Girls'. They have a very large menu with lots of choices for fresh seafood. All the dishes are prepared fresh in the open kitchen. The service is very prompt and knowledgable, and every dish we ordered was acclaimed as excellent by the person ordering. I ordered the peri-peri prawns, which were 12 queen prawns for ZAR 145. This was a really great value compared to Cape Town where the price was more than double. Their peri-peri sauce is one of the best I've ever had. There is a nice selection of local beer and wine as well.

Don't let the strange location next to the service station fool you - once inside you really won't notice. The restaurant is nicely decorated with pieces from local artists, and the interior has a nice African atmosphere. The great service and the exceptional quality of the food make this a great place to eat in Wilderness. Make sure to make a reservation, we went on a Thursday and Sunday and the place was fully booked. We have a friend in George, who said that people go to 'The Girls' from George because it is well known by the locals.

Thank you to the Girls kitchen and staff for two very lovely meals and evenings out. Also a note - I asked if I could steal their recipe for the peri-peri, but unfortunately they wouldn't give me their secret; however, the waiter told me that they sell the sauce in their sister restaurant and he went over to get me two bottles I could purchase for 60 rand each. I'll try to recreate the magic of their dish at home, but somehow I expect not to match their quality.

Hope you will enjoy this place as much as we did.

“Bizarre Location, Amazing Cuisine!”
Reviewed January 31, 2012

Situated at a service station and with views of petrol pumps one side and a motorway flyover the other, Girls is not located in the best of places. However what location lets down, food and service makes up in bucket loads! An awesome and very original menu...vodka tomatoes and a very interesting camembert as a sweet amoungst others!....DO NOT MISS THIS RESTAURANT!!

“Lovely food”
Reviewed January 30, 2012

Brilliantly cooked food and a good and competitively priced wine list.
Upstairs there is a craft centre and internet station to browse between courses or after dinner.
We think this is the best plac eto eat in the village.

“Love the food, especially the sea food platter”
Reviewed January 26, 2012

We have become a regular guest at The Girls and decided for the seafoodplatter for two. Forget the starter you will need the time and space to absorb the somewhat spicy food. Loved the mussels in curry! Recommended highly, make reservations
