“Serendipity, what an extraordinary place!”
Reviewed January 27, 2009

. If you are going to Wilderness on the Garden Route do not miss Serendipity and if you had no intention to go to the Garden Route, go there anyway and visit this wonderful guest house. Serendipity, what an extraordinary place!
The big house, with 4 beautiful guest rooms, an elegant but cozy drawing room with PC, is situated right on the bank of the Wilderness lagoon. Outside the 4 rooms there is an enormous balcony with tables and chairs and a beautiful view on the lagoon and the birds living there. Not to talk about the sunset! In the garden, just down the steps from the balcony you will find canoes at the disposal of the guests. The car can be placed in the garage under the house, so it is nice and cool when you get into it. Breakfast, which is served on the ground floor with views onto the garden and the lagoon, has all that the heart may desire and served beautifully by Elsebe the owner, a lady in the real sense of the word. Phillip, her husband, reigns in the lovely office next to the drawing room. Last but not least the Gourmet Restaurant and the Chef, much awarded Lizelle. We had the most fantastic meals, presented in a very artistic way and with superb service. The wine list is absolutely first class. Remember to book a table!
The beach is not far away and Wilderness itself is sooo relaxing. Do not miss Serendipity and Wilderness.

One can only have appreciation for the level of dedication and care that is invested in every little detail of this restaurant and guesthouse. For us every visit to Serendipity is a celebration of life.

The service is unbelievable. It is friendly and warm.

The food in the downstairs restaurant is superb! A lot of personal attention is given to the selection, the preparation and the presentation of the food.

Pura Vida!

Wilderness is one of the nicest places we have stayed, and Serendipity is one of the reasons. Wonderful accomodations, kind host, and great location. Downstairs there is a top notch restaurant run by the owner's daughter. We would come back in a snap.

Our stay at Serendipity was the cherry on top, after the enjoyable scenic road trip from cape town to wilderness .This is a 5-Star delightful guest house, with a homey feel. Rooms are clean and comfortable, with an attention to details, one can find every thing he might need. The free Internet connection came in handy.

Elasbe; the owner, helped us book the safari trip, and gave us a lot of useful brochures and information, that made us make best of our 4 nights stay.
Although the restaurant was closed during the winter, we still enjoyed breakfast in the dinning room over looking the river.

I already recommended the place to my family and friends.

This place is an absolute hidden gem. Book it!

The guest house is run by a family. Elsabe runs the guest house and Lizelle and Rudolf run the restaurant.

We stayed here for one night, to break up our journey from Stellenbosch to Plet Bay. It was well worth the stop over.

The GUest house is a beautiful house. Rooms have all the mod cons and overlook the river. Excellent for birdlife!

The real highlight of this place is the restaurant. Lizelle is a wonderful chef and has won a number of awards for her gastronomic talents. The service was amazing and our mouth watered as Lizelle talked us through the evening's menu.

This was such a intimate experience. The dining room is in the hall way of the room and is very special. The value is unbelievable. Make sure you book the dinner. This was a definite highlight of our holiday!

You can walk into wilderness town from the guest house (about 1 k) and we went kayaking up the river which was a nice activity. A sleepy place really.

  • Liked — The wonderful hosts and the evening dinner. Thank you Lizelle and Rudolf!
