We spent the weekend with friends at the resort, we were checked in by friendly staff and shown our room 139 oaklands, very spacious with two double beds, Dstv and coffee.

We played a round of golf on a great course, the food was very good and plenty variety for everyone.

This resort lends itself to family's aswell as couples, there is something for everyone to do.

We all had a great time and will certainly return and recommend this resort!

We started the beginning of many honeymoon experiences at Drakensberg Gardens.

Made it in time for afternoon drink and a few fantastic games of darts before dinner. The vibe was fantastic even though it was not that busy.

We were a little disappointed in the fact that we arrived for dinner and even though there was plenty of tables we got told that they were fully booked and that the front desk was supposed to advise us to book for dinner when we checked in. Only once I asked for the Manager (who was so lovely and said to call him if we needed anything) did they quickly seat us. We only got offered drinks towards the end of the meal.

On the bright side. Had one of the best nights ever. All the guests gathered for karaoke and after a few minutes it was like everyone had known each other for years.

Oh and did I mention how fantastic the rooms were.
Very big and we had the most stunning view.

Really felt like a real break from the city.

Definitely looking forward to going back there.

We stayed here with friends. We had an amazing thatched bungalow to stay in. The view from the bungalow was fabulous. The mountains to the front of the property was amazing. The bungalows were clean and tidy and were equipped to a high standard. We even had our washing up done every day.
The grounds and golf course are kept clean and tidy. The views are wonderful. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to this complex.
The horse riding experience booked through the activities office in the hotel foyer is a definite must.

The Drakensberg Gardens Golf Resort, is in a beautiful area, surrounded by mountains. My husband played golf and he commented that the course is well lAid out, and challenging. I rode with him on the golf cart, taking photos of the area and golf course. The clubhouse overlooks a dam, where you can hire fishing rods and kayaks. Hiking, mountain biking and tubing down the river are favourite past times. The hotel is expensive for South Africans to stay in, so we gave it a miss. The other accomodation on the edge of the golf course, named "Fairways", is beautiful, unfortunately they were fully booked. (Not sure of the price probably also expensive)

Situated at the end of a 30km long windy road you will find the Drakensberg Gardens resort. A huge resort with excellent food, friendly staff and amazing scenery. The resort is a 6 and a half hour drive from Johannesburg and 2 and a half hours from Durban. It is not difficult to find as there are sign boards as you drive outside the town of Underberg. The rooms are spacious with an en-suite bathroom and shower combo with his and her sinks. There are a lot of activities at the resort from putt-putt to horse riding, tennis and biking to name a few. The breakfast was fantastic and the dinner buffet was even better, with the most amazing desserts i have ever tasted. Situated a few minutes within the main resort is a Drakensberg World Heritage site. There are rock pools which you can swim in while admiring the spectacular Drakensberg mountains. I had a wonderful time at the resort and will definitely be going back someday soon.
Tips: Carry snacks as the shop at the resort is not well stocked and the prices are extremely high and the nearest town is over half an hour away.
Pay careful attention to the horse-riding times as there are different times for different skill levels and book way in advance as the horse riding is very popular.
Walk don't drive to the paddle boats at the Glengarry Country Club as it is quite a distance from the Drakensberg resort (we found out the hard way)
On your way out visit the Pucketty Farm Stall, they have the best brownies :-)
There is a petrol station at the resort just incase you need to fill up
Try river tubing just down the road from the resort.
