My colleague and I stayed at Manaar House for the first time and were bowled over by Tina's warm welcome and her professionalism. From offering to move our car up the driveway to making a dinner reservation on our behalf, her hospitality was impeccable. She made us feel welcome right from the start and it was a pleasure to stay there. The modern studio bedroom had everything we needed and was absolutely spotless. Thank you Tina, we'll definitely be back!

I stayed for just one night and found the hosts very friendly. The B&B is not particularly central but it's in a quiet neighbourhood. The room was very comfortable and the bathroom was huge! Breakfast was good quality and served early enough for me to get to a 8am meeting. A lovely setting and just wish I had had time to take a dip in the pool.

Thank you for positive review of Manaar House and for sharing your comments. It is on the wish list that we could have our pool heated so that our guests can enjoy a swim in both winter and summer. We hope to see you again in the not too distant future.
Regards
Jack, Mark, Tina and the rest of the Manaar House Team.

We recently stayed for three days at Manaar house, as we were over from the UK for a wedding and wanted the less formal surroundings of a guest house as opposed to a swanky hotel and stuffy formality. We weren't planning on spending much time there so it seemed the perfect solution.
The weather was unseasonably bad but the comfort and attention that Jack, Mark and Tina provided more than made up for it. Our room opened up to the small patio which houses the small pool and breakfast area. It's all neatly packed in but so tastefully furnished that one can't help but feel in the lap of luxury. The room (4) wasn't huge but the bathroom was a good size with two basins, shower and bath and perfect for the two of us. The TV was really good with Sky sports etc and each room has wifi. The breakfast was beautifully cooked and perfect for an English sensibility.
The area was safe and the house, although close-ish to the main road, was very quiet and felt secluded. It's about a ten minute walk down to the beach but Jack and Mark are always willing to give you a lift if you need one.
Which brings me on to a special note which we will always be grateful for. While we were there a member of the wedding party was killed in a car accident. This sent shock waves through the whole event and resulted in members of the near family of bride and groom (including bride and groom) being hospitalized with serious injuries.

I'd like to thank Mark and Jack and Tina for being so supportive and helpful in what was a very stressful and emotional time for us. There was a sense of extended family, as if we were staying with some kindly uncles, and their lifts to the hospital and sincere concern in the tragedy was much appreciated.

I know this isn't the usual kind of review but it may give you a deeper insight in to the nature of a stay at Manaar house. If there were six green circles to fill up I would have done so.

But to end on a lighter note, watch out for the visiting monkeys. They like a nice croissant.

Room Tip: I think room 3 was a little bigger than room 4 but we never saw it.

Thank you for sharing your experiences and review of Manaar House. I am truly humbled by your comments and can only say that it was a pleasure to have you to stay at Manaar House,

I am so sad that your holiday to South Africa was marred by the tragic car accident in which the wedding party were involved and sincerely hope that those that were hospitalised are now well on the mend.

Watch this space as Room 4 at Manaar House is being enlarged and in a few months time it will be very comparable to Room 3 in both size and comfort levels. You will have to pay us a return visit to experience this improvement.

Thank you once again for your review of Manaar House and we hope to have you to stay again in the not too distant future.

Kind regards,

Jack, Mark and Tina

The Manaar House offers service levels rarely encountered in top Hotels.Jack is the consummate host, with Mark and Tina ever in the background. Our 4 days in Umhlanga Rocks provided the perfect springboard of relaxation before the rigours of the rest of our holiday.

The proximity of the M4 freeway was an advance concern but in fact it had little impact upon the tranquillity of the verandah, pool and garden.

Our bedroom was 'bijou' but with a huge modern bathroom ( double bath, separate drench shower and double basins). However , there was a most comfortable seating area directly outside the bedroom ( see website) which rendered the accommodation almost a Suite.

We ate in some excellent local restaurants, recommended by Jack, - who then organised a cab to get us there and back. Max. single fare .with tip, - £5.

All in all, a great experience and tremendous value.

Arranged to spend 3 nights in Umhlanga and selected the Manaar House from previous reviews - we were not disappointed.

Our room accessed directly to the pool/breakfast area in a well sheltered part of the property. The pool is enclosed with an impressive display of flora and the whole is kept scupulously clean.

The room included a standard double bed and could have been slightly larger. The bathroom on the other hand was spacious and inviting.

Room facilities included a safe and fridge.

Breakfast was plentiful and tasty.

The hosts, Mark and Jack, were extremely helpful and friendly and nothing appeared to be too much of a problem.

The property is situate a good walk from the town centre and beach but taxis are plentiful and cheap.

Three days was not a sufficient period to appreciate all that Umhlanga had to offer and there is a hankering to return. I would certainly choose the Manaar House again to facilitate this desire.

Recommended.
