“Awful service, terrible food”
Reviewed March 18, 2013

Despite the wonderful setting this restaurant let itself down from the moment we walked in the door. We waited for ages to be seated and eventually gave up despite a number of staff working past us and chose our own table. We were then ignored for about half an hour until someone cleared the table and said that our waiter would be along shortly. About another half hour later she appeared, all the time other waiting staff just passed us by and served people who had come in later then we had. We place our order and of the 5 dishes 2 were inedible. The chicken dish was oversalted and my seafood platter had squid that I thought was rotten and prawns that were very dry with no sauces. I will never go there again!

“Best Steak Egg And Chips!”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Although all their food was great, the best for me was their steak, egg and chips.
We stayed at Happy Wanderes for 10 days and ate there just about every night.

“Good atmosphere, food needs improving”
Reviewed January 28, 2013

A famlily meal out and despite no booking, we were seated fairly easily. We wanted a table with a sea view but were told that they were all reserved, fair enough. We were seated nearest the kitchens, this was not a problem, and being seated far enough away from the open plan dining area, it was relatively cool despite high temperatures and humidity outside.

We asked for our daughter's meal to be brought as soon as it was ready - this caused a small issue though the waiter worked out how to place the order with the kitchen and was successful.

The food was of average quality with nothing out-standing to write home about. I had the ribs which were on the tough side though the fillet steak and prawn curry were all fantastic!

Waiter was attentive throughout the meal - the one thing that did take ages was between placing our drinks order and when it got delivered.

Overall, a lovely atmosphere overlooking the sea if you book a table with easy parking.

“Bland food, slow service”
Reviewed December 27, 2012

The restaurant moved to new premises which is stunning. However, the line fish platter we had lacked flavour and seasoning, all the items on the plate smacked just too much of the sea. The service was slow, 2 tables that came in after us were served food before us. When we requested the bill we waited about 20 minutes for it and when it arrived we had to wait some more as they had only one card machine.

Very disappointing, not recommended. The food and service we received was definitely not worth the prices charged!

“Successful opening of Scottburgh branch”
Reviewed December 16, 2012

Our meal at the new Bell and Anchor in Scottburgh was superb. We were there a day or so after the opening. The restaurant was full and had two very large tables to deal with. The kitchen and staff had no issues in dealing with the large numbers of patrons. The food was superb - starters were excellent as were the main courses of steak, sole, calamari and prawns.
