Excellent menu cooked in the genuine Indian way - tasty and spicy or not - as you prefer. Defintiley the best Indian Restaurant in town!

Authentic Indian food served in an unpretentious setting with excellent service! My daughter is serving her medical internship in Pietermaritzburg and often goes to Tandoor Kitchen when in the mood for good Indian cuisine.

I'm a Brit from India. I've eaten a lot of Indian food at home and out in restaurants, in London, the rest of the UK, India and elsewhere.

When I was told by colleagues that the food at Tandoors was exceptional, I was eager to try it.

Massive disappointment.

Chutneys were processed, from a jar, and out of date. Popadoms were fried earlier and already stale.

Chicken tikka-- terrible flavour, totally bland, how could it be from a tandoor oven. Not sure if this was adapted for the South African palate. Butter chicken-- must have had 4tbsp of sugar, it tasted nauseatingly sweet. Garlic naan-- completely flat. Raita-- was just yoghurt with some chopped onion.

Service was completelely forgettable.

I am still bewildered by the good reviews on here and from friends, and will probably have to try it again (solo, I doubt my wife will join me!). However, from this sitting-- avoid. This is not authentic, and whoever claims it is needs to get out of South Africa and eat some real Indian food. This is a waste of money. Kohinoors in PMB has AUTHENTIC Pakistani/Indian food that tastes twenty times better for a third of the price (served in typical cheap Indian cafe decor-- formica tables, lino flooring, fluorescent lighting-- get a takeaway)!

Love love love the authenticity! The atmosphere is unique and the service is wonderful - always smiles from the gracious owners! The food is delicious and its really fun to order a few dishes and pass them around sampling the different tastes among friends. The Amritsari naan is my favourite:-)

Take aways from Tandoor are always a delicious delight. We love the variety and the naan bread is especially yummy.
