A great part of a trip to South Africa. Top of the line rooms and comfort. Delightful staff. Came away completely relaxed. The staff could not have been more attentive to your every need. The spa facility is world class.

My husband and son went last weekend and wow what a peace of heaven on earth. From your arrival to departure it was superb. |The hotel is 10 star and the service 20 star. It is timeless which means you can eat and spa at anytime of the day. The food so awesome as were the Thai therapist. The family suite was so amazing with two full lounges separate bedrooms amazing bathrooms. The property is out of this world beautiful mountains rivers and waterfalls. The game ranger was incredible knowledgeable. The compliment of staff is big and they are so gracious and willing to do anything for you. A must visit before you die. We will be back

Wow, Wow and wow - Seven woman in the group spanning three generations and sharing a 21st birthday treat from an amazingly, kind, generous friend for one night of shear luxury - this treat will never ever be forgotten by us all. The Staff, Spa,Lodge, Food, Guest Accommodation and Game Drive were all just brilliant. We were welcomed by all staff and thoroughly nutured for a night of luxury, pampering and divine food with a specially made Velvet Cake in celebrating Emma's 21st. This experience bought some of us to tears by the shear beauty but all of us in awe of what is actually achieved in this luxurious spa. The treatments from the most incredible group of Spa staff - we just don't have enough words to explain what was experienced - a must - we will be back.

Thanks to Fred, Wayne and the Karkloof staff for an amazing holiday.

Karloof Safari & Spa is definitely world class and the spa is simply surreal!! The game drives, picnics and meals..wow!! Above all this, you treated my family and I like Royalty - this is something money cannot buy. My heartfelt thanks and well wishes to all at Karkloof for making our stay so memorable.

My husband and I visited Karkloof Safari Spa as part of a longer visit back to South Africa. After spending two weeks shuttling between family and friends we were looking forward to having some quality time just the two of us.

From the moment we arrived we felt welcome and at home. The lodge was open and friendly, we never felt out of place or in anyone's way, which is a surprisingly common feeling in some five star hotels I have visited in the past. We settled in for a meal and the relaxation kicked in straight away.

The spa was an amazing retreat which we enjoyed visiting each day. Being 7.5 months pregnant I wasn't sure how many treatments I would get to actually enjoy, but the team were fantastic with great suggestions of what treatments were suitable and executed them brilliantly. The pregnancy massage was a god send - in fact I had it more than once.

Being truly all inclusive helped me (and hubby) venture from our favourite types of treatments and try something new. I would highly recommend the asking for suggestions and going with it - each one was spot on for us.

While we never planned on doing a lot of game viewing on our trip, we were surprised at the abundance of viewing available and were spoilt with sightings of rhinos (as soon as we entered the reserve), giraffes, and many other friendly buck and wildebeest. A highlight was the wine (no-alcoholic for me - just another example of how flexible and accommodating the Karkloof team are) and cheese board that was laid out for us after our game drive among the buck in the bush as we watched the sun set. It was truly spectacular.

Our safari guide, Kenny, was fabulous. Not only does he have an incredible knowledge of the flora and fauna within the reserve, he also has an uncanny ability to spot even the smallest reptile or bird while out in the vehicle or on a walk. We missed nothing and always had a wealth of interesting facts shared along the way. He is truly personable and just a wonderfully pleasant person to share your time with.

Something that I came to appreciate (but some how couldn't get my head around before I arrived) was the sense of timelessness that the team speak of at Karkloof. Everything you do is done when you want it to be. Whether this is having a meal, going to the spa or heading out to the Falls, it's you who sets the itinerary. On more than one occasion we found ourselves running late for our activity, only to be greeted by a smiling team members saying, Take your time, it's timeless here.

This holiday was amazing and reset the clock for both of us. So much so I had to remind my hubby that we had in fact only spent two nights at the reserve - he was convinced we had been there longer!

If you have the chance I would take it and visit. Never having to think about the cost of extras when you are away, or how to fit everything in is such a treat. I would certainly like to return some time soon.

This property is easy to get to being located near Pietermaritzburg in KZN. Once you find it, it feels like you start to slowly exhale and relax. Everything is orientated around making sure that you simply step off from the world and wind down. The central area for meals is beautifully done with the correct balance of style and comfort. The staff are ready to cater to your every need and everytime you look up you are met by Sandra's welcoming smile. Sandra made sure that we not only were looked after, but also entertained. We loved chatting to her and David at the bar every evening. Our rooms were quite simply magnificent. We had a room and a lovely lounge and a fantastic bathroom and an awesome terrace. Walking to the rooms was great fun on the walkways as you passed wildlife every time - nyala's.......warthogs ...etc. This place is different from other safari lodges in that you make your own schedule. There are no set times for game drives - you have your own dedicated game ranger at your beck and call. We called on our wonderful ranger Kenny to do a walk on the reserve the first night and on the second night a drive and a picnic. The reserve has no wild cats or elephants which means you can walk and also means that the trees are all in one piece and beautiful. We loved our walk with Kenny. Our drive on the second night had a bit of an adrenaline rush as the rhino took out the front tire of the land rover! Our rescue was well handled by Kenny who remained calm throughout. One of the biggest drawcards of the place is the amazing spa. They have 7 full time thai ladies who are ready to look after you at any time of the day or night. The reason for the high staff ratio is to make sure that whenever you feel like a treatment you can be immediately looked after. The spa is magnificent and is built on top of a hill in a separate building. It boasts wonderful jacuzzi pools, floatation areas, its own little restaurant serving wonderful salads and a large menu of treatments to cater to all your wishes. We spent two days in the spa working our way through the menu and can both attest to the fact that it helped release a years worth of stress. We were pampered, prodded, massaged and destressed. The ladies were amazing. Ok - this is going on a bit - but I do need to mention that the food was fantastic! They have a menu each day so you have a good range of choice. In addition there is always a wonderfully creative raw food option on the menu. The chefs are also completely flexible at meeting your needs if you wish to make changes or increase or decrease portion sizes. Overall - quite simply an amazing experience. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
