“Glorious setting”
Reviewed May 26, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for only 1 night on the way to Rocktail Bay from Fugitive's Drift Lodge and when we arrived were disappointed we weren't going to be there longer. A return visit will be planned for the future as the activities they offer are diverse and sound exciting for all tastes. The back of the hotel is set facing Ghost Mountain in beautiful grounds with a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. The rooms offer all you would need with the added bonus of your own private outside terrace with chairs and a table. The restaurant offers good quality food either buffet style or à la carte.
Would highly recommend.

Room Tip: All the rooms are quiet and not overlooked by the rooms either side so no extra tips are needed.

One of the biggest challenges that I find in hotels, as a traveller and a team conflict resolution consultant, is the quality and selection of pillows.

In some hotels it is impossible to get a good night's sleep before taking on all of the angst of a team in conflict. Well the Ghost Mountain Inn (GMI) beds and pillows are really comfortable! The rooms are great - particularly the garden rooms and the honeymoon suite!

The food was great with an incredible buffet - the pastry chef's offerings stood out. SImply awesome.

Al though there was a brief hiccup with our booking, the ability of GMI to negotiate a better deal with our international clients was awesome. I really enjoyed that.

GMI was not listed on our Garmin - but have no fears, simply follow the GPS to Mkuze and turn into town, cross the railway line and go left - and voila! The hotel runs boat cruises on Josini dame, tours of an African village and trips into Mkuze Game reserve for game viewing.

It is a great stop over in Northern Zululand. Try it - you will definitely enjoy it!

Beautiful and Tranquil

On our way to the Kruger National Park in December 2012 we stay over 1 night at Ghost Mountain Inn. Absolutely beautiful and tranquil, wished we had stayed our whole holiday. The rooms were clean, neat and modern. The staff are amazing and make you feel so welcome and are extremely helpful. Drinks served at pool and fresh towels delivered at the pool side. Cant wait to return!

Superb location and excellent excursions with Bheki and Jean! Knowledge of area, animals and plants with passion for what you do, is inspirational! We were disappointed with location of our rooms. After receiving email confirmation that we would have a double bed and mountain view with the kids room close to ours, we got none of that! When we questioned and wanted it sorted out, nothing was done! We asked 3 times for our bar fridge to be replaced/fixed but to no avail!
Why we paid extra for a superior room is questionable! Breakfasts and lunches are stunning! other than being disappointed with our rooms, a lovely resort!

My wife and I spent three amazing nights here. The amenities and food are what you would expect them to be. What made this place the incredibly relaxing experience we needed was the surroundings and the staff. Everyone was super friendly, very laid back but everything was done efficiently, with a smile and with the utmost care to make our time there fantastic. Would recommend it to anyone looking to take a deep breath and unwind.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the lake.

My husband and I spent 4 days here in February and loved everything we did. Since it was our (belated) honeymoon, we splurged on the largest room (the suite) and it was totally worth it. We had plenty of space and the simple yet beautiful decor made it restful and appealing. The high point of our stay was our tour leader Jean. She led 3 of the 5 excursions we booked through GMI and made each one educational, informative, and memorable. Her colleague, Bheki, led te other 2 and we enjoyed those immensely as well. The property is beautiful and we enjoyed some down time, too, in the open air lobby using the free wifi (none in the rooms). I also swam in the outdoor pool a few times. Our only "complaint" is that the lunch menu was too limited, and the dinner buffet got a bit repetitive. In any case, we would return to GMI in a heartbeat. The staff and setting are terrific.

Room Tip: Splurge on the suite if you can.

We spent two nights at this great place as part of our south African tour. We arrived late afternoon to a warm welcome with complimentary drinks. Check in was quick and efficient , and as with all our hotels our cases were taken to our rooms. This was a lovely spot to stay and the hotel had a great rustic and authentic African feel to it. Rooms were of a high standard and often around the hotel you could spot the local wildlife- such as frogs and the biggest centipede I'd ever seen!
The food was of good quality - buffet style and good wine. We visited a typical Zulu homestead and did a fantastic game reserve Hluhuwe - umfolozi. Thanks to Jean our guide who was very knowledgable about everything and made it fun! We certainly had a few characters on our trip and she dealt with them brilliantly! This is definitely in my top 5 places to stay in Africa
