We stayed both in Safari Lodge and the Heritage Logde Luxury Tents and although we enjoyed both the Hertiage Tents were amazing. The genuine feel of being on a Safari with impeccable accommodations. We really enjoyed our stay in the tents.
Safari's start super early in the morning and late in the day so you have some down time in the middle to read, explore the neighboring towns etc, but be prepared for that middle of the day down time.
We saw amazing animals from Cheetah to Elephants, Cape Buffalo to Giraffes... we missed the Leopard through our 4 day stay, but we enjoyed every part of the experience. We recommend the day trip to Phinda (lions) and the trip to St. Lucia for the Hippo cruise if you are looking for excursions.
- Official Description (provided by the hotel):
- The Heritage Safari Lodge was originally built in the 1940’s as a hotel and was a landmark pit-stop for weary travelers between Maputo and Durban. Acquired in 1996, the gracious building was lovingly restored to its original colonial grandeur, enhanced with new accommodation, and tastefully themed to highlight Zululand’s unique cultural heritage. With buffet-style meals in our restaurant, the wide, welcoming veranda and our ‘human watering hole’ - the pub or thatched boma, warm and relaxing atmosphere is conducive to shared good times and conviviality.
