“Bonamanzi Game Reserve Cares”
Reviewed June 25, 2013

Whilst holidaying at Bonamanzi Game Reserve as a group of 4 women, our car was damaged to such an extent that it needed repairs before it could be driven. The team at Bonamanzi immediately sprang to our aid - towing our vehicle back to their property; having the repairs taken care of by their in-house mechanic; having their rangers lift us back-and-forth between our accommodation and main camp; and ensuring we were given meals once our food had run out. We were even invited to ride along to witness the darting and collaring of an elephant on the reserve as part of a conservation project. All of this was done with genuine warmth and concern, and ensured that we had lasting memories of a wonderful long weekend, as opposed to those of a complete disaster. This was especially important for the Australian friend we had invited to join us. Special mention must go to manager Tracy, mechanic Kassie, receptionist Londi, and of course their wonderful team of rangers.

“A Superb Birding Destination”
Reviewed May 10, 2013

Aside from being a game reserve in itself, Bonamanzi is a great base to explore northern KwaZulu Natal. The camp is nicely laid out, clean, and well maintained. Nyala and Warthog roam the well kept lawns. But for me Bonamanzi's bird life is its main attraction. For birders wanting to view or photograph a wide variety of birds, Bonamanzi is one of the best places in the area to do this. If you go at the year end weavers nesting in front of the reception allow for easy flying shots as they busily build their nests within close range. Would I go back, definitely!

“Great weekend away”
Reviewed April 10, 2013

Camped for 2 nights at campsite number 4. Busy Easter weekend & we were grateful to get space at the last minute. Camp site was peaceful, power plug access for a portable camping fridge & good ablutions. Plenty hot water but shower head a bit high, really not a major problem though. Excellent birding. Did not do any excursions. Would have liked a tap in each individual site but a basin of water surficed. Good wash up area. Plenty buck around camp site at night and a very bold genet that gave excellent photo opportunities. Reception staff at check in exceptionally efficient. Tips: if using power plug take a long extension & lots of mozzy stuff. We had wonderful wind free balmy evenings & the mosquitos came in their millions! The area is lit up with a few "street lamps"that may or may not bother you.communal central braai area. All in all a great weekend away.

“Bonamanzi - DiniZulu Camp - Brilliant.”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

We had a thoroughly enjoyable family holiday to Dinizulu Camp in the early part of this year.

The camp itself is set a few kilometers further into the reserve past the main Bonamanzi camp and reception which guarantees absolute privacy and the feeling of being the only ones in the reserve which is fantastic. The accommodation comprises 3/4 very comfortable double bedded chalets all situated around the camps superb swimming pool. The main lounge, kitchen and deck area hold an elevated position with great views over a well manicured lawn area and the dam in which you will see a number of crocodiles and countless Nyala and Impala coming to drink. We were fortunate enough to see a fairly large crocodile wrestling with the remains of some recently caught dinner literally at the edge of the water below the camp.
Although the reserve itself isn't home to predatory mammals which makes it 'relatively' child friendly, it must be noted that the swimming pool holds a central position in the camp so for families travelling with young children who are as yet unable to swim themselves this does pose a bit of an issue with having to keep a constant eye on them. The lawn areas also run right to the waters edge, and given the presence of crocodiles one is obviously not able to just leave your young ones to play on the lawn unsupervised.

As Dinizulu is a self catering camp, interaction with reserve staff is very limited however the camp servicing staff were all extremely pleasant and helpful.

We wouldn't think twice about visiting Dinizulu again. Highly recommended.
