This restaurant has been Durban's No1 for some time now!A truly deserved spot.Graham &his team are spot on with Hellos and goodbyes on a name basis Makes one feel so welcome! It was our first time to 9th Avenue and the dining experience was wonderful. Our waitress Toby was knowledgeable, the maître d' concerned and the service excellent.I had the Jerusalem artichoke soup which was delicious. My husband the seafood orzo which had an orange froth.Superb and the langos were done to perfection.Mains was the crispy duck ,a signature dish and the rib eye steak!Perfect complimented with a 2010 Rhone red.Pitty there was no room for the vanilla bean brulee!
Will definitely be back soon!

We've known about this establishment for some time through the EatOut magazine, and finally decided to try it. What followed was pure culinary bliss. Wine menu offered some true gems, the seasonal menu was exquisite, and the service was attentive, friendly, and professional. This ranks as probably the best restaurant I've visited. Well done, and we will be back! PS The ostrich fillet with gnocchi was the stand out dish!

We were told this place needed at least a week's notice for a Friday night booking. We were unaware so we showed up, at 4p. Happily the hostess wanted to accommodate. So we got a tentative for 6p when it opened; 'eat and scram' was the advice. We hung around and it was worth every minute of the 2 hour layabout quaffing beer at the local across the way.

The space looks industrial and no frills. And where we sat on the outside some leaking pipe deposited a little standing water. Notwithstanding, the food was excellent and beautifully presented. All in the party of 6 allowed the meal was well worth the wait. And again, all relatively inexpensive.

I visited this restaurant with local friends who said it was good. What an understatement. From the moment one arrives there is a non invasive attention to detail. The food is exceptional but the service is just amazing. The waitress served each dish to the right person announcing the dish and level of cooking. During dinner we were all asked individually if everything was up to standard but not in the usual mandatory way. Each person individually without ever disturbing the conversation.

A final touch of class was the hand written Thank You ! on the receipt.

I will travel a good bit before finding another restaurant at the same exquisite level.

Hats Off !!!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at 9th Avenue twice in the space of a few days, after not haven eaten there for a while. I was pleased to find that it has lost nothing of its classic dinning experience, with a modern twist. All of the dinners had great starters and mains, with not a single complaint. For Durbanites, prices are more in in line with Cape Town, but the food is excellent and well worth it. The wine list is limited, but good enough to pair with your chosen meal. Definately well worth a visit.
