during my visit to Durban and as one of my pleasures is to visit gardens, we had to go and see the local one. it was a pleasure to find the place so well organized (just short of parking space) and so pleasant. the varieties of plants are just amazing, and we also enjoyed the effort place in the green economy. by the time we got to the restaurant thinking let us look for something safe!!!like a toast, I was surprised not only by the service but also by the quality of the food. certainly I recommend a visit to this Botanical Garden for a educational, relaxing and tea break experience.
do not miss the Orchids, Palm lanes and just all of it.

The gardens have a a good variety of floral/botanical species from all over the world, which present a visual feast. Well maintained green lawns mean that there is ample space for picnicking and for little children to play safely. You could easily spend the better part of the day here. This is a popular venue for wedding photography so it is also good for people watching and viewing different cultural wedding regalia.
There are several ponds and water features as should be expected. But this does provide ample breeding space for mosquitos so it is a good idea to pack a repellant.
The best part - there are no entry fees!

A quite interesting feature of the Botanical garden is The Living Beehive - a huge dome shaped structure decorated and secured with a range of plants. The aim of this structure being to create innovative ecosystem to cope with climate change.

Things to do at the Botanical gardens include taking a long walk to explore and photograph the ancient trees and plant, a picnic with the family or just relaxing and taking in the tranquility

As mentioned, this is Africa's oldest Botanical Garden dating back over 150 years - another reason to visit this landmark.

As a photographer, this was a very special experience. Wonderful trees in a park environment, with lots of places to just sit and relax. Very enjoyable.
