Description: "free your mind, body and soul at Freedom Cafe; good food, great company and beautiful surroundings" The café-in-a-can is a concentrate of all we enjoy most in entertaining. It’s intimate, relaxed, and with décor by crack Egg Designs duo Roche and Greg Dry, unselfconsciously stylish. The menu, like the lady, evolves constantly, guided only by the mantra: ‘local, fresh, direct.’Guests watch through a hatch in the compact courtyard kitchen, even wander through this en route to the loo. They linger contentedly under trees strung with jam-jar lights and beaded dreams (‘joy,’ ‘love,’ ‘peace’), nursing cappy and cupcakes on yellow wire Egg rockers or black plastic daxie benches. Then as the shadow of neighbouring St Mary’s church spire creeps slowly across the sand.

“Hidden little gem”
Reviewed July 9, 2014

So good to find Lucy again working away at a fresh take on food in general. The menu accommodates most palates. Great vegetarian food as well. The live music was great and complimented the alfresco ambiance. The service is a bit lacking, maybe they are under staffed?? This vibey little cafe is tucked away but with ample parking. Well worth a visit, I will be a regular.

“Freedom from active service”
Reviewed June 16, 2014

Decided to brunch here.....an eventful morning. Setting is breathtakingly quirky and charming. Menu a vegetarian's dream , with a multitude of fresh , exciting choices. Being a public holiday the cafe was under - staff. Cuppachinos arrived promptly and we then placed our order. After an hour , we had to beg for service from an overworked , disgruntled waitron. Twenty minutes later our orange juice arrived rather reluctantly .When we enquired about our food, the scrowling waitron totally ignored us. As we decided t leave, our food suddenly appeared without any apologies.
Despite lacking in good service, our food was delicious.

“Excellent quirky cafe!”
Reviewed May 22, 2014 via mobile

Had an early lunch here today and fell in love with the decor, menu and quality of food at this cafe.

Drinks made fresh and presented in an excellent fashion. Seasonal dishes on the menu and all at reasonable prices. Will definitely be returning.

“Great find”

Great place for a lunch. Highly recommend the salt and pepper squid with salty caramel dipping sauce. the pull pork rolls are delicious, but a bit too salty. G&Ts in jam jars are perfectly mixed
