“Excellant value”
Reviewed December 11, 2009

Excellant location, walking distance from the north beach and exactly midway between the beach and the business district, so it was always a toss between going to work or going to the beach!!
The rooms were fairly ok and the property had a nice quaint feel to it.
would recommend it wholeheartedly. also very good value for money.

We stayed for one night before flying out and hadn't expected too much but were pleasantly surprised at how good it was. It The room was spacious and comfortable and although the bathroon was small it was fine for a night.
At about 5pm we walked the 2 blocks to the beach where there were bars and restaurants. We had some concerns about safety but felt fine. The promanade was under refurbishment but still busy with families.
We decided to eat in the hotel restaurant which only provides light meals but it was just what we wanted and good value for money. The breakfast spread was very good.
Good value for money and ideal for a night or two.

Just returned from 6 days at the City Lodge whilst my partner ran the Comrades.
The hotel is in an ideal location 5 minutes walk from the stadium at the end of the Comrades Marathon. (Down hill years) Very clean modern and stylish reception areas and dining room. Staff extremely helpful and friendly, snacks available throughout the day and they are happy for you to order food from outside and eat in their breakfast area.
Small pretty pool with only half a dozen loungers but they were hardly used during our stay. Not sure how safe the streets were at nights but was fine walking between the hotel, marathon expo and also the finish/start stadium. The hotel offers transportation to the start of the race in the early hours of the morning and also a tour of the race route is available from the expo so no need to book a special package with a tour company as we did as there is help and information at every turn.
The hotel bedrooms were clean tidy and adequate with all the basics, no frills but the necessary comfy beds. The hotel was a lovely surprise as was not sure what to expect. Would highly recommend it especially for the Comrades or if attending the ICC but would suggest any runners ask for a ground floor room as there is no lift and watching the marathon runners the day after trying to get up and down the stairs was painful but very funny. Respect to them all

I stayed at this hotel for a week to attend a conference at the ICC

Enjoyed its proximity to the conference venue. I was booked in to a ground floor room which was a bit stuffy but the air conditioning unit was very effective. The room and bathroom was neat and always clean upon returning.

There were a few days where the clean laundry arrived in the late afternoon which did cause a problem one afternoon when i wanted to freshen up for an evening event. The safe was locked upon arrival on the first day and after reporting it immediately was only opened 2 days later after 2 more calls. The hotel seemed quite full with what seemed to be a somewhat small staff complement which could explain the delay.

The breakfast of R60 I thought was good value for money

The stay was not memorable but it was perfect for the purpose of being close to the venue and being clean and tidy.

We stayed here for 2 nights in April. Initially we were in a ground floor room but decided we would like to relocate to a room on an upper floor. The staff were very accomodating and we changed rooms on the second night. The rooms were clean and comfortable, rather like Travel lodges in the UK.
The hotel was centrally located, only a 5 minute walk from the beach. There was also free parking, with a 24hour security guard. Breakfasts were good and there were free muffins at reception in the morning!!
