Relaxing, calm, intimate and warm. At home away from home. We where excepted with open arms and arrangement where made to suite our specific requirements even though we did not make any pre-arrival arrangements. We where accommodated without prejudice although we where sensitive that no prior arrangement where made, or no over the top short notice fees where instituted. A real feeling of humanity, integrity and respect.

This is what i'ld call, a home away from home. this cosy little place is what one really needs, time & again. If you're looking for a clean, affordable, quite & private kind of place, this is it. whatever your whim or needs, the Tubacks & their assistants are on standby. It's rightly placed on the Durban berea & you've got the view of the city. Great place all in all.

Peaceful, charming, cosy. I really loved staying at this little B&B. I didn't feel like I was in the city at all and was completely charmed by the greenery and the birds, butterflies and monkeys it attracts. The staff made sure that my every whim was taken care of and cooked meals to my specifications with skill and creativity. I would definitely stay here again and recommend this place to anyone looking for some peace and quite in bustling Durban.

This was truly a "Home from Home" experience. An Upper Room offer rooms of superior standard and comfort, a tranquil setting with superb hospitality from Leon and Edith. Breakfasts are very good and enjoyed in the restful atmosphere alongside the swimming pool.

The view over Durban harbour was superb and the bird life was a treat.

Thank you Leon and Edith for being so welcoming and attentive.

An Upper Room is really a great place to stay at if you visit Durban. The location is good and relaxed. Nice rooms with fine views and comfortable beds. The breakfast was good and we enjoyed the garden with the pool. The hosts, Edith and Leon, were very freindly and gave us lots of good advices of what to do and where to eat and we loved their dog Bentley. We can really recommend this familiar bed and breakfast.
