Description: Come celebrate the beauty of the Indian Ocean and dine in a casual atmosphere, enjoying the South African cuisine, overlooking the spectacular ocean. Special times of the year are June & July to experience the “Greatest Shoal on Earth”. Come see the shoals of sardines as they get attacked from the air by the birds and in the water by the game fish, dolphins & sharks ... it is an amazing spectacle! If you don’t get to see the sardines you will probably see our Hump backed whales from June to November, doing spectacular breaches out at sea or giving birth to their baby calves at the end of October and in November. Then just about all year round see our dolphins surfing the waves right in front of the restaurant. The sea view alone is worth a trip but then you have the added attraction of the African Peninsula Cuisine to satisfy your taste buds!

Went to the African Peninsula Restaurant on Saturday evening for dinner and was impressed with the food and the service, the waiters were friendly and helpful even though they were really busy ( had a party of about 24 people to serve also, amongst others). The wait for our meal was not overly long, and the food portions were big enough for a hungry person. The butternut soup that I ordered was creamy, smooth and warm, ideal for a cool evening.
I was so impressed that I went back for breakfast and loved it even more, still very busy but waiters were courteous and welcoming. Only downside was the tasteless and very small glass of juice. Breakfast was made to order and so you get exactly what you want, perfect for me. Milkshakes brought back happy memories of childhood, as they tasted like the old fashioned Clover brand that we bought in glass bottles when we were children.
Two pods of dolphins swimming by added to the already incredible view that the African Peninsula Restaurant has to offer.
I was impressed by the clean areas that this establishment has to offer from the car park, down all the walk ways right onto the deck. The walkway area at night is lit enough to create a feeling of a warm welcome.
Loved it and can't wait to go back again!!!!!

The night before last, I dined for the third time at the African Peninsula. In short, the setting matched my expectations, while the meal itself fell just short. Nonetheless, this is probably currently the best restaurant on the Bluff; I can only think of one other dinery that offers white linen.

My favourite part is the pathway from the entrance through the tropical garden and past the pool down to the restaurant. Already the zoom of the ocean hints at what is to come. The waitress opens the door and we walk through the house and onto the deck. Two nights ago, plastic shutters closed the windows, but the sea sound and air were lovely.

My lamb chops looked beautiful but were a bit tough. The African Peninsula salad was enormous, almost intimidating. My companion’s butternut soup was attractive but apparently unexceptional. The service was efficient but indifferent.

In short, go for the beautiful setting and above-average food.

Whether you order a simple wrap, fish or meat, everything is cooked fresh exactly how you request it, the staff are of a high cailbre and very helpful. The chef is very talented and nothing is too much trouble for them
