5 of us had lunch here and chose to sit outdoors overlooking the grass and beachfront. Waiters were attentive and the menu had a really nice option for the 9 year old, who opted for the kiddies choice of fish and potato cakes and was so impressed that she ordered more!
The lamb chops were meaty, tasty and polished off with gusto as were the lamb ribs, which received full marks from our friend. Two of us had the calamari mains, with a sweetish tangy sauce and a few fries and a veggie side dish. All delightfully prepared and very tasty.
we also ordered a pair of virgin cocktails, strawberry, which were okay at R30/R35 a piece.
Only drawback were the smokers, who congregated around, but it was our choice to eat outside and perhaps next time I would chose indoors and avoid the smoke. There was no atmosphere to speak of but then the face painting / hand washing stuff may not be part of the lunch time offerings. Price was average.

We chose to sit in the restaurant on the pier instead of in the main restaurant next to uShaka Marine World - and loved being able to look out onto the sea while we ate. We ordered a selection of meals as tapas for everyone to tuck into. Food and service excellent.

On our last evening in Durban we had cocktails at Moyo and then dinner.
They were out of some meals the staff was unfriendly and apparently more occupied with pleasing a small group of what looked like "Super sweet 16" Party at a table close to us.
The starters were good and the food was ok. The salad I ordered tasted very boring. Yet the others were pleased with their orders.

We took UK friends with our four kids here for an evening meal. We have taken many tourists to the Moyo at Spier in Stellenbosch and always had a great time. We arrived at the Durban branch to an embarrassingly empty restaurant with zero atmosphere. There was no traditional hand washing for which we were told "we have run out of rosewater". The kids were looking forward to the face painting but it hadn't arrived by the time we had our main course. When I asked to see the manager, the waiter returned with the face paint and painted everyone himself (got to give him credit for taking the initiative). The restaurant did eventually fill up with a large group. In fairness, the service was good as was the food and surprisingly well priced.

The entertainment consisted of a couple of drummers. They did some good rhythms but only played for about 10 minutes. The rest of the entertainment consisted of the waiters doing some dancing and singing. It really wasn't much better than the waiters at the Spur singing someone happy birthday (SA readers with kids will know about this).

Overall, I wont take tourists to Moyo again. There are better options elsewhere.

We were really looking forward to having lunch at Moyo and were incredibly disappointed. The service was absolutely dismal and ruined our meal. The restaurant was empty, and there was plenty of staff about however, they were too busy chatting to each other to take our orders and to serve us promptly. They also got the food orders wrong which created further problems.

The food was tasty with great portion size, however, I think it would be recommended to see if the currys could have less bones in them. (for the price paid, the quality should be higher).

It was great to get our faces painted, however, i'd suggest that explanations were given as we were international guests. I also think if the restaurant is empty, given the size of the space, a seating plan should be structured to make it feel more intimate.
