Africa Regent Guest House
Ranked #38 of 262 Durban B&B and Inns
Reviewed August 18, 2013

We originally booked 4 nights at Africa Regent while holidaying in Durban, and liked it so much, we stayed an extra 2 nights - we cannot fault it! The grounds are beautiful, the room immaculate and the wonderful hosts, David and Pam, are friendly and attentive. Little touches made for a delightful stay, like David kindly preparing sun loungers for us when we said we were having a lazy day, and our room being made up on a day when we'd left it particularly late in the afternoon, and didnt expect it. The bar is fantastic and we spent happy evenings playing darts and table football. The area feels safe, there plenty of restaurants 5 mins away, and in our opinion, contrary to another review, plenty to occupy a couple in their twenties like us. We spent 3 evenings watching sport/gigs at the nearby stadiums, and went to a bar/club less than 10 mins drive away in Newport Avenue. David and Pam are happy to offer any advice regarding things to do in the area. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this B&B to anyone. Thankyou, David and Pam! From Hannah & Dom

My employer and I were participating in a craft beerfest over the weekend of the 3rd Aug, and stayed at this beautiful guesthouse with the most welcoming and comfy hospitality!!
David and Pam were exceptional at making us all feel like we were at our home away from home! From the stunning decor, to the immaculate rooms, to the unbelievable full English breakfast every morning..
It was a great experience, and caused for our stay in Durban be so much better indeed.!! We will certainly return! Thanks guys!

I stayed for one night at the African Regent, I was alone about to embark on a volunteer program the next day. I arrived at night and left the next morning and I recall the memorable part was the fancy home-made style breakfast I was served. I'll go there again next time I'm in Durban. Don't expect room service or anything, you're staying at someone's home and the host is very humble. Two thumbs from me.

My husband decided to surprize me with a weekend away for our 1 year anniversary and he booked a room for us at this wonderful establishment. The room was spotless and very spacious and we had an amazing view of the pool and deck area. What made our stay even more pleasant was the fantstic hosts. Dave and Pam are such inviting and friendly people that they make you feel right at home. I can definately recommend this guest house to others and hopefully we will be able to return soon.

Clean, neat and comfortable stay any time of the year. I look forward to my next stay here.
The little bar and pool table downstairs makes for a great relax after business. Another big plus is the location - very close to a bunch of great restaurants.

This guest house was great. I loved their African themed decor to bits. We occupied the Leopard which was great. The rooms are quite big, comfortable and very neat, makes you feel at home. The rooms have a door leading to the outside as a private entry as well and ours was situated close to the the jacuzzi. They offer safe parking for your vehicle. Breakfast was great and very tasteful and they had freshly brewed coffee all day long and fresh fruit too. Only little problem we experienced was that there were flies which is a small irritation but the place worthwhile and I would without a doubt recommend it.

We stayed in this guest house in Durban last November. It is run by a friendly British couple, David & Pam, who are always ready to provide guidance and advice as to what to do. The whole house is furnished immaculately and decorated in African themes – very impressive and to a high standard. It is also spotlessly clean throughout. The bedrooms are very comfortable and also individually styled in various themes.

There is a choice of restaurants within 10 minutes walk, but otherwise a car is needed for getting around. Excellent breakfasts with a good choice, and wi-fi is available in the rooms. An excellent place to stay - highly recommended.
