“Boutique Hotel Gem in Durban”
Reviewed May 13, 2014

This is a wonderful small hotel in Morningside, Durban. We had the Berkshire room which was massive with a lovely balcony overlooking the downtown Durban CBD and the new stadium. The room was comfortable although the shower in the bathroom had a few chipped tiles (which should have been repaired). Staff were amazing, accomodating, friendly and attentive. They have a bistro on the premises but we only had one meal there - a family breakfast on Sunday morning on the verandah overlooking the garden and pool area. The food and service was really good.

We stayed here over a long weekend for the Tour of Durban cycle race because it was really close to the start. The staff were incredibly friendly and made every effort to make us feel at home at all times. The restaurant is not much to write home about if you're a foodie - but the food was good and the portions were big (great for hungry cyclists). The view from the patio is lovely, the rooms are clean (maybe a little dated, but it works with the theme of the hotel). Thank you for a lovely stay.

I stayed for three nights and enjoyed every aspect of my stay. The room was large and in excellent condition, service was excellent and the quiet location close to good restaurants and the King's Park complex where we were based.

small hotel, great rooms, friendly service, used as a first stop from airport, easy place to wind down in after a long flight. G and T at the bar just gets the holiday started in the right mood, followed by a good nights sleep and superb breakfast

Stayed here for an overnight and after a poor experience at our previous hotel, the Audacia Manor was a much welcome change. The room was beautiful as well as the bathroom which stepped out into an outdoor shower and jacuzzi. It's a small hotel so there isn't a huge staff. Marilyn is amazing. Such a nice person and she works incredible hard at her job. My only problem with the hotel was the recommendations made for dinner. I was looking for a nice night out and the restaurant recommended was a very casual beach joint not a place I'd want to go for a night out without the kids.
