The hotel is really not a 4-star establishment and I dont know how and who rated them. The furnishing and decor are below par, they were done on a budget! The front desk staff on arrival and check out cidnt impress at all, they provided a below-average attention and service. A lot of training needs to go into this area of the reception. The room furniture is old and dated and it feels like an apartment block that doesnt really matter! The Jiran Cafe downstairs on the other hand is really the jewel in this establishment, I would come to this place just for the coffee and the healthy food provided there. The breakfast offering is actually also another improved area though the breakfast room is really small and cramped!

We stayed for 6 days in early April 2012 and were generally very pleased with our experience.

The hotel is across the road from the beach giving very easy access. Unfortunately our room only had a side beach view from the bathroom and second bedroom.

The foyer is very smart and the reception staff were friendly and helpful.

Our room/suite was a very good size. A comfortable king size bed in 1 room which had air conditioning and a flat screen TV. Another room had 2 single beds, AC and a flat screen TV (very handy as I didn't want to watch the disney channel!). There was also a third room which we didn't actually need had a single bed and AC.

The small kitchen area had a kettle, fridge and microwave. It was great to have a fridge but there were only glasses, cups and saucers so it's not really an area that you can use for food preparation or eating in unless you bring plates and cutlery with you.
Unfortunately we could not use the safe as there was no way to lock it and this was not remedied during our stay.

The electricity in the rooms is activated by your room entry card which means that you cannot leave the air conditioning or mosquito mats on whilst you are out and the rooms can take a little while to cool down.

The breakfast buffet had an excellant choice of foods although the hot food was not that hot.
There is on site parking behind security gates as well as lots of parking outside the hotel.

In summary a great location, good sized clean rooms for a reasonable price with friendly staff. I would stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask specifically for a room above the 4th floor and with a sea view if you want a sea view.

Showed up and they didn't have our reservation. They blamed it on the website and said they have had this problem before. Not exactly a great introduction, and they didn't do or offer anything to make it better, or ease the awkwardness of the situation. They did find us a room though, which was, in retrospect, a mixed blessing. Ants in the room. I understand it's Africa, but.... We requested to change rooms the first day we were there and they said to check back in every day. A lousy response, and not very good service. We asked about a few things we were interested in around the area. One was sushi and they directed us to the casino. The casino was dreadful. 2 days later we found a sushi place less than 4 blocks away that was some of the best we've ever had. The room we were in didn't have any chairs and had 2 awkward separate rooms. We requested a chair or two, but never got one. They don't have washcloths for some reason. Good food, restaurant, latte's, and service downstairs in the lobby.

when i phoned the hotel to confirm my booking, they had no reference of the booking.
luckily they were prepared to do the booking directly at the same tarif.
if i had not checked the booking done by easytobook,i would have arrived and would not have had a place to sleep as the hotel was full.
i would thus not recommend easytobook for friends and family.

We were pleasantly surprised by this hotel. It is in an excellent location close to the Sun Coast complex and most rooms have a sea view. Ou first room was close to refurbishments and had nowhere to store items in the bathroom. With the help of Kobus, the excellent customer relations chap we changed to another room that met our requirements. The rooms are large with a table and chairs plus sofa. Our one compaint was the steady stream of cockroaches that joined us daily in the bathroom.

An excellent breakfast is included, but the breakfast room can be crowded at peak times. We did spot the serving staff at breakfast regularly dropping the serving tools onto the floor and then re-using them without cleaning them!

There is also a nice coffee shop (Cafe Jarin) attached to the hotel which serves good food and drinks. The car park at the rear is not for the faint hearted, access is up a tight steep slope once the attention of the staff has been attracted by repeatedly pressing a button outside.

Very good value, the staff were lovely, including Nick, Reception who was most helpful. We shall be back.as we are regular Durban visitors for family reasons

Room Tip: Middle rooms are the most spacious opposite the lifts

Me and my fiance spent 2 nights at this hotel in Feb. 2012. We chose the hotel entirely for the location and on that point we were pleased, just a few minutes walk to the beach that had lifeguards and right next to that was a mall with a food court. Just a few minutes drive to Ushaka Marine World which had a nice aquarium in an old shipwreck, worth visiting. A few restaurants around, all of which seemed to belong to hotels. The food at Belaire's restaurant was fine, a bit slow service though. Lots of people walking, jogging along the beach. We used their carpark and had no problems with the car.

The room itself was comfortable but quite boring I would say, no details at all to make it home-friendly. We had a room on the 10th floor, decent view when the windows were open (quite dirty windows), AC, fridge, TV, etc. The service wasn't great at check-in, the receptionist wasn't particularly friendly or knowledgable and it turns out she charged us for 3 night even though we were there for 2, so at check-out we had to wait for ages while they tried to figure out the problem and credit our card. They had forgotten to clean the little room in the back (we stayed in flat with place for 4 people), we didn't need it since we were just 2 people so we didn't complain. Breakfast was ok, lots of choices but nothing special.

Our family of 4 stayed 3 nights at Belaire Suites. We had a great time. Before we arrived I had e-mailed and always got a very fast response. The room was large and clean and very attractive. The breakfast every morning was wonderful. It is nice to have a fridge and small kitchen area in the room. The location was great. You can just walk out the door and explore and walk around. In wrapping up we would stay here anytime.
