“wonderful place and multi-skilled team”
Review of Sodwana Bay

Sodwana Bay

I am not a diver but I visit Sodwana Bay regularly and never fail to be impressed by Ben and the team from sodwana bay lodge scuba centre.(SBLSC) There are other teams based in close proximity on the beach but for experience and safety procedures I would definitely choose SBLSC. I have seen them support their colleagues from other organisations as they have rigorous first aid training and in depth experience. Most of their divers have been customers for years, recognising their expertise. It is also brilliant to see local people employed in senior positions.
The lodge accomodation is just right for a break of this kind and is within easy driving distance of excellent safari destinations. I cant wait to return.

Came here and first impression.. WHAT AN UGLY TOWN! Seriously, the town is not looking good at all. But in the end this doesn't really matter because the reef, considered as one of the top 10 diving locations in the world, is amazing. Unfortunately I personally can't dive so I decided for the 1,5 h snorkeling tour which was quite different than expected: the main focus at first was looking for whales and we found them only a couple of minutes later watching some of them jumping around - amazing!
Then we went to look for dolphins.. A few minutes later: we got them! Our guide on the boat tried to get in front of them and so we were able to just let them come to us. We jumped into the water and waited for them. Some of us came as close as 50 cm and you can really hear them making their sounds very properly.
And only after this we went to the actual reef to go snorkeling above it. Loads of different kind of fish and also some baby sharks made the whole trip just perfect. If you have the chance to come to this place - COME!

Recently went on an awesome dive trip arranged and led by Lynn Raal from Alpha Dive Centre in Strand, Western Cape, South Africa. Total number in party 23. Great food and accommodation at Sodwana Bay Lodge with diving through Sodwana Scuba Centre. Ben Jones and his amazing team, DMs Dennis and BenZ guided us on the most exciting dives; brilliant skippers who navigated the challenging surf and found dolphins for us to swim with on the early dives. We will be bcak!

We recently had the opportunity of visiting Sodwana with a group of School kids for a diving experience. We have been many times before, so knew what to expect and have generally always enjoyed the experience.
Unfortunately this time we were exposed to a most unpleasant experience, which resulted in the tragic loss of life. Without going into all the details, i should like to caution all visitors and especially divers that there is absolutely no medical expertise, no first aid kit, or medical facility available at Sodwana.
One would think that with hundreds of Divers visiting yearly that a sophisticated facility would be available. The closest we had was an ambulance that came from 10 kms away, had nothing on board except a stretcher, and then broke down. The nearest medical facility is 10kms away, and is a small rural clinc. You have been warned!!

An unspoiled and clean beach awaits you when you are visiting Sodwana bay. Had a wonderful diving experience here. A very relaxing enjoyable weekend ended too quickly but, luckily the memories will linker on....Have to visit again soon.
