“Good place to spend some time”

Anybody interested in Route 66 should stop here for a few hours. The cost is reasonable and the exhibits convey the culture / circumstances that make Route 66 a legend the world over. Don't miss this piece of Americana.

“The people here make it special!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 18, 2013

We intended on just coming to see the museum, but the ladies at the front desk on the lower level were so friendly and knowledgeable that we spent much longer here than we thought we would. They inquired as to what our travel plans were, and after we told them they whipped out tons of brochures, maps, guides and insider tips to make our trip even more memorable. They also handed us some coupons for attractions around Arizona. It amazed me how much they knew- we were doing a road trip all around Arizona and they knew every town like the back of their hands.
Once we made it upstairs to the actual museum, the lady collecting admissions fees actually told us not to worry about paying her since we didn’t have cash, and was nice enough to give us a map of Kingman too. She gave us a lot of information about the town and the unique sites to see, some within walking distance. Inside the museum were lots of displays and relics about Route 66. I thought it was very interesting, and at the end of it there is a neat little theatre showing a documentary too.
There is also a souvenir shop with lots of unique nick nacks and items that you may not find anywhere else. They had a display of Route 66 jewelry for really cheap, I bought a pair of earrings shaped like milkshakes with a Route 66 sign. I also bought some marble stones with models of antique cars and airplanes on them. My boyfriend bought a license plate and a map. All items were pretty inexpensive.
We had a fantastic time here but the people we encountered made it special!

“Good overview of the history”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed March 16, 2013

Kingman was an unplanned stop due to a significant snow storm earlier in the day which put us behind schedule. When we awoke and saw the signs for the museum, we thought why not - we were not disappointed. Very informative museum with extremely helpful staff. The photos of the kids really drew me in to the experience of Rte 66. Great deal of history in this building. Movie is worth the time!

“Excellent place and value!”

What an interesting place to visit! Obviously well planned. We also got to see the Mojave Museum as well as the home of the Kingmans all for the $3 each we paid for the Rt.66 museum. Do not miss ANY of these stops...well worth the time in all of them.

This little museum has so much for a little town. We spent an hour or so the first day and received two tickets to two other attractions for the price of admission to this one. We ended up going back again and spent an afternoon as well. It documents the life in this area from the time of settling in the late 1880's until current times. The development of this area was tied to the railroad and the nearby mines and now continues to grow and develop in other ways. The staff was exceptionally friendly and we met someone who's daughter-in-law lived in Maine near us.
