We did not make use of most of the lodge facilities during our short stay but the rooms were clean and the lodge is well located along the Vaal river. The lodge has a wonderful relaxed atmosphere and in general is well maintained. The room could do with some improvements such as the installation of a bar fridge, the construction of a shower in the large bathroom (there is only a shower over the bath) and repainting of some of the walls where they have been damaged by damp. That said, we would most likely stay at the lodge again.

We recently stayed at Waterfront and let me start of with the positives. It's located along the Vaal River and if you have a boat, you can dock and enjoy a meal at their restaurant, while enjoying the amazing view. The pool is open for walk in's, so you can bring the kids for a swim. The staff is friendly and mostly helpful. Our room was neat and clean, however it was not checked before we arrived, and we discovered that our tv wasn't working. As a result some shuffling had to be done, with a set having to be fetched from another suit. The restaurant located at the deck, has great views as mentioned above and you can either sit in the garden or on the deck. The garden chairs are wrought iron and there are only a few cushions for them. When we did ask for the cushions, they were reluctant to give them to us, "in case all the guests want them". There are no sun loungers by the pool, so either have to sit on the edge of the pool or on the garden chairs or spread a towel on the grass. The restaurant is not well staffed and they seemed to become overwhelmed when it became crowded and we had to wait a long time to be served. The food was average, with the wings and the ribs being the best, while the prawns were terrible. The lodge has a spa which we visited. It's located on the 1st floor. On arrival we were shown into a small, neat changing room and given our attire. Their body wraps have certainly seen better days and are in desperate need of replacing. We therefore decided to stick with the robes and skip the wraps! The pedicure area is located immediately above and adjacent to the reception, so you can hear everything happening at reception. We were surprised that they did not put nail polish on our toe nails after the pedicure and on enquiry we were told that it would be an additional R10. This should have been told to us upfront so that we could decide if we want nail polish or not! I have to commend the spa for accommodating three of us in one room for our messages and facials, especially because we had given them short notice. The ladies doing the treatments did an acceptable job but might require a little more training. I kept asking my therapist to reduce the pressure during the message, but my protest fell on deaf ears and had to endure a rather painful message.
There are no other activities at the lodge other than swimming. They don't have a boat that one can hire and on enquiry, all other activities are in town, so you should make sure that you have a car when you stay there. There's not much variation in the breakfast, so you'd probably get bored after about two days. Go there for the view, but for the prices they charge, they really need to up their game.

The visitor gave an average rating for a 3 star lodge. We experienced record turnovers for this December and it is possible that there were service delivery issues. We apologize for any short comings and appreciate the feedback.
