The City Lodge is small and cute hotel that anyone who is looking for luxury at low cost, would enjoy the cozy and lovely environment ....the room is just something beautiful especially the design of the Bathroom with moving curtain, that you can be in the bath and be watching your T.V in the room, just at the press of a button.

Conveniently located across the road from the Mediclinic allowing a safe 2 minute walk to visit patients. The hotel has recently been refurbished and the staff add even more delight to one's stay. Professional, courteous & unobtrusive - always smiling & ready to help.

Its located very close to sandton city so you can walk by feet to the nice inner city, but its not really nice. The rooms are big enough, but the 3 I had in the last monthes where dark and not really clean . So I switched to the fallstaff hotel not far from them located and it was a good choice. The staff was normal kindly and sometimes desinterested.breakfast was good, dinner more below average. The pool area is good to have and enjoy a beer after work. To stay a night for a business trip its ok, but not more.

Room Tip: No recommendatIon all rooms wherent not nice

Stayed here on 12 April 2014 for 1 night. No friendly welcome on arrival. Slow service...like the receptionist was just going through the motions....The original room I was checked into was the last room on the passage and I could not get a cellphone signal. When I complained and asked for another room, he first told my wife that there were very few rooms available despite me knowing for a fact that this hotel was quiet that night. He then had a meeting with a another receptionist or presumably a manger for 5 minutes, then came out and said that even the other receptionist had no signal on his phone. I showed him my phone to prove that I had signal and it was the room location that was the problem. He then gave me another room. This room on check in had a bad odour, the sofa sleeper appeared turned down with a blanket and had no shutter between the bathroom and room compared to the room type I booked. I had to phone and get all that sorted out. Throughout my stay sabc 1,2,3 did not work. What shocked me was the filth on the aircon control and the mouldy looking ceiling above the shower. It was DISGUSTING. I could not believe that a city lodge hotel could allow a room like this to be given out. From check in my experience was ruined. I don't know why why chose this dump when there are so many better choices in sandton, I thought city lodge was known for its friendliness and cleanliness but this hotel is a disgrace to the name. Please see attached pictures,

We stayed for four nights while visiting for a wedding. The stay was good breakfast staff and evening kitchen staff very friendly, the barman was borderline rude though. We requested, through reception, a change of pillows that was totally ignored but a follow up request the next day they then arrived very quickly.

We asked, since we are not from the area, for the reception to arrange a cab service for us to the wedding reception and back; thinking this would be the best way to get a reliable, professional service provider. The cab arrived, driver did not have a map let alone a GPS and asked us if he could use ours, after arriving at the reception using our own GPS the driver assured us if we call him on his phone, no matter how late, we will be collected for our return trip. Well, we called at midnight and his phone was turned off with a voice mail saying try his "other number", we did not have another number he only gave us one! So we were stranded until 2am until we could find and locate another cab service - we recommend Zebra Taxis who arrived promptly and charged less than the one recommended by the hotel and who actually knew where to take us.

Overall a pleasant stay - breakfasts are excellent.

Some visitors fail to understand that people are trying to sleep in their rooms when they get in at all hours of the night and talk at the top of their voices - the hotel cannot be blamed for this though.

Room Tip: Would suggest a room on same floor as reception since nobody offers to help with bags.

Thank you for your review. We are happy to hear that you enjoyed the breakfast and your overall stay.

However, we apologize for the inconvenience of the taxi driver, yet this is unfortunately not in our control as we don't run the taxi services. We will consider recommending other taxi services in the future though. Thank you for your feedback.

We hope to see you again soon.
