“Most pleasant lunch”
Reviewed August 13, 2014

We had a very enjoyable lunch however,it was marred by a tiny flaw. My daughter found a minute sliver of blue ? in her pasta. It was immediately whisked away and the mystery was resolved in that it had been a piece of glove that was cut. The ambiance of the restaurant, service, and Pol Roger was divine.

“Elegant dining”

The restaurant is a little pricey but the well-prepared, timely served food and wonderful staff are worth every penny. Quiet atmosphere, perfect for couples.

“a memourable evening”
Reviewed August 12, 2014

On a recent visit to Johannesburg, we wanted to entertain some friends who had previously extended their hospitality to my wife and me, so telephoned prior to our arrival, to book a round table for ten persons for dinner. After checking in, I went to the restaurant to check that all was in order and was shown to a long rectangular table in the middle of the resaurant. My disappointment with table and it's position was quickly dispelled when after checking the booking, the manager confirmed that a round table had been recorded and assured me that the round table in a quiet corner would be ready for us.
When discussing the menu, it was suggested that we choose the special "World Cup Degustation Menu" to which we agreed and it was exceptional. The food was superb and each course was matched with appropriate wines. We could not fault the dinner and the service was also outstanding. Nothing was too much trouble and our guests were full of praise for the evening. This was just one of many fine meals we have experienced at the Michelangelo and part of the reason we always stay there when we are in Johannesburg.

“Lovely atmosphere however overpriced”
Reviewed August 11, 2014 via mobile

The occasion: a friend's birthday. All the girls (15 of us) went for high tea. Price: R195pp (incl tea). Any other drinks are over and above this already high price. As an example, a small 200ml soft drink costs R30! Exorbitantly priced.

The service wasn't anything to write home about... We had to ask for drinks that we had ordered (but hadn't arrived) more than once.

The waiters start reminding you to leave from 16:30 so they can prepare for the dinner service. Nothing like having the staff willing you to leave their establishment to make you feel unwanted.

The music, courtesy of the man playing the piano, was lovely.

“Excellent person - Everisto Robbin”
Reviewed August 6, 2014

I had recently booked the Piccolo Mondo restuarant for my sister's surprise babyshower. The ladies at the reception of PIccolo Mondo restuarant I must say are very unfriendly and off putting, rude and unhelpful.
But anyway we had a specific waiter his name is Everisto Robbin. He took care of us like royalty. My guests are really impressed and we really had a great time as well we were a group of 19 and he made sure we always had something to drink, cleaned up perfectly, kept the table in order, kept my guests happy, kept on checking if we were ok, he paid attention to detail. This guy is great, kind, courteous and excellent customer service, excellent friendly smile. amazing, we were so blessed to have him serving our table.
