Description: A reclaimed car workshop is the setting for this atmospheric 40-seater restaurant just off Parkmore’s main drag. The decor is edgy yet soothing, the menu small (but regularly-changing) and the location offers a refreshing tranquillity being off the central road.

“A gem in Parkmore”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 19, 2013

I was taken to the little establishment just off 11th, went up the spiral staircase to sample the trendy thing of SA micro breweries and have something to eat, within 30 seconds I wasn't ordering anything beyond the starters. Fantastic, light and very reasonably priced add a bottle of Sav/blanc and jobs a gooden. Will defiantly utilising the close proxcimity to home

“Scruffy Premises, Limited Menu”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 11, 2013

Reading the many 5 star "positive" reviews we were surprised to find a tiny scruffy little place tucked away off the main road in a dodgy part of Parkmore leaving us the impression that some reviews posted may NOT match expectations and were fake. As a result we a bit taken aback that the premises were actually a bit of a dive, with seriously sprucing up needed. On arrival the one & only employee / waiter was trying hard to find us a place less exposed to the constantly billowing cigarette smoke pouring in through the entrance from the four smoking tables along the verandah polluting the entire inside area. Positives: the hake on polenta was very tasty and at R75 was OK value. Negatives: menu very limited to 3 items for mains, portions medium. Be aware reviews may not match reality. The young owner who spent most of the time on his laptop (writing reviews????) could spend time sprucing up the premises as we believe it does have potential. Don't think it's worth a return visit for us as it isn't up to snuff

“nice for cocktails , wine and beer.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 3, 2013

A bit secluded and just by surprise i discovered this place while driving in the area of benmore shopping mall. Ground floor of restaurant not realy atractive but first floor is realy nice with its fine large leather chairs and exclusive lightening. Food in this restaurant is nothing to talk abouth , proschiotto and chicken as apetiser was near tasteless , steak was decent but not from the quality i am used to receive in other restaurants in jnb , french frys where obviously frozen kind reminded me of fast food restaurants and not fryd enough. On a positive note wines by the bottle are interesting but i choose for one of the many local beers coming from brewerys i had never heared off before such as dam wolff brewery with its yellow eyes beer and many other beers from local micro brewerys. Conclsuion this place is realy nice for a drink after work buth food served here is in need of improvement. Last but not least this place is very expensive compared to many other restaurants in the Johannesburg .

“Really nice place!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012 via mobile

Enthousiastic owners, with a passion for wines and good food for a reasonable price. Limited menu, 2-3 starters, mains, sides and deserts, but all with good produce, daring and fun. Nice industrial looking set-up, where I would opt to sit on the upper floor. Really close to downtown Sandton, but you need to know this place as it is not in plain view. Definitely try this restaurant.

“Bistro meets New York loft in the shadow of Sandton”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 25, 2012

The first thing that grabs your attention when you walk inside is the spiral staircase that rises up through a rough cut hole in the concrete ceiling. The simplicity of design and the reuse of existing space is a perfect setting to enjoy a concise menu that focuses on fresh ingredients and interesting food combinations that show a strong South Africa influence in their execution.

The best aspect for me was the beer menu that features South African micro breweries. The wine menu looked well thought out but who needs wine when you can enjoy masterly crafted natural beers as an accompaniment to each course.

This is the type of restaurant that I would expect to find in New York or Amsterdam and not in Sandton.
