I think this lives up to the radisson blu name. Very chic, modern, and a nice lobby, bar, and a decent breakfast. Obviously very convenient to the airport and gautrain.

Stayed here on business in October and this hotel is right opposite the Sandton Guatrain, which I took from OR Tambo Airport. I really liked the Gautrain and the ability to get straight into the hotel from it, made me feel very safe considering the stories you hear about J'burg.
The hotel has a lower lobby with security and the elevators to the main lobby/bar/restaurant, and then further elevators to the rooms. This was a nice touch and confirmed the safety aspects. The hotel is nice, rooms are large and clean. Good room service menu and the bathroom is very stylish with a waterfall shower.
Hotel is right round the corner from Nelson Mandela Sq, where there is shopping and restaurants, definitely go to the Butcher Shop restaurant = FANTASTIC!

This hotel could not be more conveniently located to the Gautrain. One word about the Gautrain first though. Best way hands down to travel from the Airport. The trains were spotless and we never felt anything but safe. Taxi's in Johannesburg are quite expensive, so this was a fantastic alternative (about $15 one way).

This is a very modern hotel. To give you an example, your room key must be placed into a designated slot next to the door in order for the lights to turn on. I suppose this is a 'green' initiative that forces the lights off when travelers leave the room. The look of the room was also very modern, but not to the point of being non-functional. We felt safe at all times and the staff was always helpful. We had a 2 year old with us and the hotel brought us a crib/cot without charging for it. Internet access is unlimited and complimentary, which for Africa is rare. We logged on several times and never had an issue.

The hotel is located 2 blocks from a large mall and Nelson Mandela Square. The mall has literally hundreds of stores and is as clean and nice as anything you will find in the USA or Europe. The mall also boasts a food court and a large grocery store. Nelson Mandela Square is a must see. Plan on spending some time to eat lunch at one of the various outdoor eateries. There is also a nice Gelato shop that is relatively inexpensive.

The hotel offers a complimentary shuttle for short trips. We were taken to the American Consulate, but discovered that we were so close that we walked back. Rosebank is the next stop on the Gautrain and you can find another great mall there, along with a medical clinic if you need it. The Rosebank mall is partially outdoors, which gives is a nice feel.

Good hotel, nice, food is good, room is nice, not going to have time to explore the area as only stopping in for a night.
Staff are really great and helpful, easy to find and get to from the airport.
Don't order their house water 450 rand for filtered tap water is nuts, thanks for pulling the wool over our eyes.

The location of the hotel was even better than we originally thought. It is literally oposite Sandton station and it was only a 15 minute transfer from the airport. Nelson Madela Square was only a 5 minute walk away and the route was lined with police officers so we always felt safe. The hotel was very accomodating in allowing us to check in as early as 10 am as we arrived on an early flight. I'm not sure I'll go back to Jo'Burg but if I did, I would definitely stay here again.

We read lots of hotel reviews for Jo'burg because of all the warnings about safety and chose this one - there are two Radiation Blu hotels in Sandton but this is over the road from the new Gautrain station and Sandton Mall/Nelson Mandela Square. We checked in and were upgraded which was a nice surprise as it was New Year so the hotel was fairly busy. The room was lovely (it looked the same as the standard room but we got a Nespresso machine and a higher floor) The breakfast was excellent - we tried lots of options from fruit and cakes to full English breakfast and it was all good. The pool area was compact but delightful and had sun all day - we sat there for a few hours every day. We even tried the hotel restaurant, Central One, for dinner and it was SO good that we went back on NYE which was great with a DJ playing laid back music perfectly suited to the setting. The concierge arranged a day trip for us to see downtown Jo'burg and Soweto which was very moving when told with the accounts of how people were treated and how they still live. The car park cost £4 per day but that was offset by the unlimited free wi-fi :-) All in all, we couldn't have chosen a better hotel - it was new, spotless, good food, good location, good service and very safe. I would definitely stay in Radisson Blu Gautrain again and, if only there for one or two days, get the Gautrain from the Airport to Sandton to save on car hire as, despite what you may be told, you don't really need a car as you can walk/get the hotel shuttle round Sandton and get a tour of anywhere else or get a taxi to any restaurants. 5* and I am very fussy!

I have stayed in this hotel now at least 8 times, and love the fact that it is right outside the 'Gautrain' - the high speed rail link to the airport and other parts of Johannesburg.
Using the Gaurtrain to get into Sandton saves an hour at least in traffic and then using the same train to commute into Midrand saves 700 ZAR daily!
The hotel is very clean and the bar area has had a recent refresh so is now looking better than ever. Breakfast in the restaurant is quite spacious so never has that squashed and cramped feel you sometimes get in business hotels in the mornings.
The restaurant food is also delicious with Springbok Carpaccio being to die for.
The outside terrace is also a welcome addition for eating in the warmer weather, although the pool itself is very small and more of a plunge pool. All in all, great food, great location and great service.
