We stayed our last night after a five week trip through South Africa and it was the best accomodation! You cant believe, that you stay in Joburg . The garden is superb, the rooms and lounge like a museum with original paintings and antiques! There is even not one point, which can be improved! Service is excellent!

We (my fiance and I) discovered the Oasis Guesthouse during a stopover for one night in Johannesburg while in transit to Mozambique. Ever since - we look forward to traveling to Johannesburg just so that we can stay there! Anita makes you feel at home from the moment she welcomes you in until the moment you leave. The rooms are gorgeous and extremely comfortable. The beds are great - I've never had such great sleep outside of my own bed!

Anita will also go out of her way to help you during your stay with anything that you might need - taxis, suggestions for shopping/dining, etc.

You cannot go wrong staying here. From the chocolates on the pillows to the beautiful garden and breakfast - it's all excellent!

Anita & Grayham made you feel welcome from the very outset. Nothing was too much trouble. The rooms were a decent size and all had free wi-fi. This could also be accessed from the cosy lounge or even outside by the pool.

It is situated 20 minutes from Sandton and about 40 minutes from central Jo'burg, in a leafy, residential area. It has security gates and is away from the main road, so you're assured a decent night's sleep.

Breakfast is plentiful and, while the choice of evening meals (not served on Saturdays) are limited, a choice of restaurants are within easy striking distance. Food can also be ordered in.

Large bathrooms, with shower and bath suite. Fresh fruit left in your room every day.

The Oasis is set in lovely gardens, with a barbecue and outdoor lounge area. Excursions can be arranged, as can airport transfers.

Without talking this place up too much, it really is a great find. Homely and welcoming, Anita and Grayham make you feel part of the family - while also allowing you your privacy.

* There is not a business centre, but wi-fi is readily available and I'm sure the Oasis would allow use of their fax facilities if urgent ...

A great place to base yourself in Jo'burg, whether there for business or pleasure. The owners are friendly, the dogs great, the food lovely and the guesthouse a general pleasure to spend time in. Even a great DVD collection for those evenings when you don't feel like heading out. I stayed for about 5 days, and will definitely head back to Oasis when I'm next in town. Thanks again to the owners for looking after me so well.

DO not hesitate one second, that is the right place to be! We visitied South Africa with some friends. This was our first time in South Africa. We were really happy to read comments from sramsay. We've then chosen this gueshouse for our stay in Jo'Burg thanks to him. I can tell you that he's completely right about the Oasis and that we really enjoyed it and it was perfect ! Rooms are amazing and classy, employees are nice and happy to help, Anita and Grayham are very friendly and treat you well. That is really one of the most beautiful stay we'eve ever made.

I have been working in South Africa since June of 2008. In that time I have stayed over 100 nights at the Oasis Guesthouse. I can tell you that it lives up to its name in every way. The setting is tranquil, the rooms are finely decorated and always immaculate, and the staff is friendly, cheerful and always happy to help. The owners (and full time operators), Anita and Grayham, have amazing attention to detail in everything for the rooms, to airport transfers, to guests preferences of which vegetables that they prefer in their salads, to complimentary car washing. They provide excellent advice on things to see and places to go, from game parks to local markets; you name it they can help you find the right place for it.

I have a team of consultants working on a project in Jo’burg, and we are often more in number than the Oasis has rooms for. As a result we have had many team members in other guest houses in the area and we know that the Oasis is the best by far. The others are nice, but the Oasis is unmatched. We eat all breakfasts at the Oasis. How could you not? You can get hot breakfast to order, wonderfully cooked to your liking, and the buffet is full of wonderful fresh fruit salad and many delicious pastries. The variety seems endless. We also eat most of our dinners here. The food is very good, always served hot and unbeatable at the price. The convenience of turning up for dinner at the appointed time and having it delivered to your table right on time is a convenience that you just can’t get by going out to dinner. The atmosphere in the dining room is exceptional. Grayham and Anita go out of their way to introduce guests to each other and the dinners become an enjoyable conversation among people from all over. A friendly and enjoyable atmosphere to accompany the home cooked meals.

The rooms are amazing and all unique. Each one decorated with fantastic furniture both tasteful and comfortable. The bathrooms are luxurious, more like a spa than a guesthouse. There is coffee and fresh fruit in the room every day. Anita and Grayham have done a wonderful job of creating dozens of sitting areas throughout the guesthouse where you can curl up with a good book, watch your favorite team on television or sit with friends and enjoy the birds and the sounds of the waterfall. Many of the rooms have patios or porches that offer additional spots of tranquility.

I travel internationally for business and have worked in many countries over many years and my view is that for business travelers the Oasis is an unbeatable haven. It is quiet and a place where you can find any number of spots to sit and get work done. Grayham and Anita have installed free wireless internet throughout the property so that you can get a signal wherever you boot up your laptop. There is a Lapa, (covered open air area) with a large dining table, television, sofas, and refreshments. My team and I often use it as a conference area where we all sit and work amidst the birds, the sounds of the waterfall, fresh air and the breeze. The internet coverage makes it an unbeatable work area.

I believe that the most striking thing about the Oasis is how Anita and Grayham have created such a beautiful setting, with impeccable service, and yet maintained an atmosphere where guests feel at home and relaxed. The dogs and cats are friendly; if you like animals and they leave you alone if animals are not your thing. Before finding the Oasis, I stayed at a few of the higher end hotels in Rosebank and Sandton. The Oasis offers more in amenities, comfort and attention to guest needs than any of the best hotels and they do it at a price that is unbeatable by any standard.

If you are planning a trip to Jo’burg, then the Oasis is definitely the spot to stay.
