A perfect place for a get-away from the hectic life. I really enjoyed my two day stay prior to taking off on a safari holiday and it was just what I needed. Nicely decorated rooms, with a touch of elegance, all the comfort and little luxuries there, but not too pretensious. A beautiful garden to enjoy the afternoon coffee and a good book and simply relax. A friendly atmosphere, making you welcome and feeling like at home. I particularly liked the little details like the honesty bar, availability of coffee and toast during the day... Thanks Anita and Graham for your great hospitality.

What a delight to have met someone who is so well travelled - You have seen more of our planet than anyone else I have ever met! Thank you for your objective review and we hope to see you again on your next trip to Africa. Kind regards, Anita

South African hospitality at its best, quality throughout from the interior to the exterior, everything is immaculate. You are even able to entertain friends to a South African barbeque in a beautiful thatch lapa. The biggest disappointment for me when travelling to Johannesburg on short notice is if I cannot get a reservation at this well run establishment. Highly recommended!

After searching for two days on the internet I found The Oasis . What a find. Rooms are really classic and private and the attention to detail is really good.
Pool area is beautiful but not that private as the reception is adjacent.
Service is excellent and the breakfast layout is really exceptional. Serving staff are attentive.
The group breakfast (11 pax) that was arranged at the last minuet was handled well and was more than adequate.
I never got a chance to use the lapa but will do so next time for sure.
Was so good that our company will be using the guest house exclusively from now on for all business trips.

Room Tip: The superior room (room 2) was really nice but I never saw any of the other rooms. Great deck outsid...

Thank you for your comments, we are thrilled to hear that your company have decided to use us for your business trips to Johannesburg. The Lapa is often used by guests as an "outside office" The internet signal is great and we have put international adapters and extention chords there as well for your convenience. Hopefully we see you soon. Kind regards, Anita

I booked an evening at the Oasis hotel for me and my wife on 7 November 2013 for our Anniversary. From the moment we arrived we felt very special. We stayed in room 11, very very nice, we've been to 11 countries and stayed in hotels all over, this place is very special with personal touch from the staff etc. We had dinner at a very romantic setting prepared fro us under the trees and the personal chef made us delicious dinner. I really recommend the Oasis to anybody because it is Truly Perfect!

We arrived at the Oasis about 5:45 pm, having been delayed by the rush hour traffic. We were surprised that the heavy security gate was opened for us just by our speaking into the microphone. We could have been anyone, or anyone could have been behind us. There is no guard at the gate and the gate can't be seen clearly from the office. This seems to make nonsense out of the electric fencing, high walls and bars on all outside doors.
We were greeted by two Dalmation dogs, friendly and harmless but travelers unaccustomed to a Dalmation's habit of smiling could mistake the action as a baring of teeth.
Check in went smoothly but our introductory drink order was screwed up and the two dozen roses that we ordered were summarily plonked into a vase still tied in a bunch without a thought given to any arrangement.
The room was very pleasant and was the one we requested. The 'pillow library' is a nice touch for those who have preferences regarding softness, firmness, etc.
The DVD library is well stocked but unfortunately we were unable to figure out how to use the DVD player in our room despite that fact that neither of us is electronically challenged and have ample experience in operating these devices. A leaflet of instructions inside the 'guest services' folder or a manual would have been useful, even indispensable.
At dinner the food was fair to good, seemed fresh and fastidiously cooked but not to any gourmet standard. The breakfast bar plus hot breakfast was very good, excellent in variety and presentation.
Drinks at the bar and dinner is on an honors system which is fine by me, but variety is sadly lacking.
Gardens and grounds very pleasant, resident pets are extremely well behaved.

Room Tip: Check the hotel's website for your personal preference regarding verandas, gardens, seclusion, e...

Dear John.
Regarding our security, we know exactly who is expected to check- in and by asking you to speak into the microphone whilst watching you on our CCTV camera system, we are able to confirm that you are in fact booking in and that there is nobody else behind you. We as locals, know that using security guards to control access can be a weak link in any security protocol and therefore prefer as owners to control the gate ourselves, but thank you for your view as a foreigner.
Our pets are prominently displayed on our website and we hope by doing so, we will alert those who are averse to dogs and cats. As owners, we greet you in the car park on arrival and will allay any fears you may have when Stripes smiles to greet you. As you mentioned, our pets are extremely well behaved.
Our complimentary, introductory drink is something we give over and above the norm. Had you indicated that we had made a mistake, we would have gladly corrected this.
The roses were arranged by the florist at the greengrocer utilizing the budget given. We thought that it was practical to leave it in the cellophane to enable you to take the bouquet with you when you left.
We explain the remote controls when we introduce the room to a guest but have now also implemented a system whereby all remote controls are labelled and a leaflet of instructions is now included in the folder. Good point.
We offer an affordable eating-in option for customers who might want to stay in rather than try several restaurants around the area. This option is exclusively for our guests and not open to the general public. We employ a talented young man as our cook because the cost of employing a gourmet chef would price the meal out of the market we cater to. Perhaps by suggesting what was lacking in our drinks selection, we could improve on this.

I would have found a stay away from home this long in one of the main hotel chains rather isolating. This had all the features I wanted and was much more personal. Food is excellent and service great. This was second visit to Joburg and I didn't consider staying anywhere else after staying here last time.

Room Tip: Good price range depending what kind of view you want. Staff very helpful at suggesting a room if yo...
