“Great Place, lacks some service quality”

I can just add what the other reviews are stating already. The whole place is well kept. My room was actually a suite, the upper floor of a cotage, and spotless clean. Just one big room, a veryvery comfortable bed, spacious bath room. Small balcony etc. Breakfast buffet was nice with a good selection. Did not try the restaurant nor the game park.

Only problem I had was the lack of service. Only Internet connection was available at the bar. To my surprise you could sit at the bar without having someone asking you anything. Not even the bartender if he should bring me a beer. Same goes for the other staff. They could watch guest hauling around large suitcase and not be bothered, and continue chatting.
Otherwise a nice change to the usual standard business hotels. Although I missed the gym and the hotel should do something to keep their access road okay.

Spent there only one night - unfortunately. Had a Luxury suite in a thatched building which was very spacious and tastefully decorated. Premises are well-kept, and especially the reception and restaurant area gives an out-of-africa-feeling (at least a kind of...). Dinner was very meat-oriented; breakfast was fine, and the service was very friendly. Felt completely safe all the time. Location is relatively close to Pretoria.

I chose The Farm Inn because of its attached game farm and their claim that they had lion cubs on display - which they no longer do. (They DO have plenty of roosters which start crowing at 5:00 a.m.) The rooms are rather unique and comfortable. The shower was handheld which might not sound too inconvenient, but is. Service in the restaurant was good one day and not-so-good the next. The long hike to our room was a bit inconvenient, as was the drive into Pretoria. There was a lovely view from the back of our room, and we saw wildlife in the mornings. However, I think the rate was a bit high for what the establishment offered. It was okay, but nothing special.

We have now stayed at the Farm Inn 5 or 6 times over the last few years. This vist was as enjoyable as ever, perhaps better in that the Restaurant has undobtedly improved (and it has one of the best wine lists I've found in South Africa). It is a great place to relax with good size rooms, lovely grounds and friendly staff. We just hope it doesn't get gobbled up by the encroaching housing estates.

My wife and I had a small stone cottage on the premises. Thatched roof, fireplace, bath, TV - perfect. The bed was veerrry comfortable - and I don't sleep well in beds other than my own! The best part was hearing the lions roaring at night less than 100 yards from our bedroom window. The breakfasts were fantastic. The main lodge/lobby was incredible. Reportedly the largest structure under thatch in RSA. A full 2-story tall open lobby with African wildlife trophies adorning the walls. Highly recommended - unless you're the Holiday Inn or Hilton type.
