Owner description: The Cheetah Centre in South Africa was established in 1971, initially as a cheetah breeding project and the Centre has during the past 40 years bred over 800 cheetah cubs. Various conservation projects have been initiated since its inception which also inlcudes a successful African wild dog breeding programme. Known in the past as the De Wildt Cheetah Centre the name has recently been changed to the Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre as a tribute to the woman who has devoted her life to the survival of the cheetahs as well as other rare and endangered species

My 30th birthday weekend celebrations started off with an amazing feeding tour at the Cheetah Centre. I loved every minute, from feeding, playing with and caressing some of the Cheetahs, my favourite moment was playing with and feeding Achilles - boy can he play soccer well:) We were guided through the park by our awesome tour guide Alan Strachan, he was full of fun and shared amazing stories about his personal experiences with the various cheetahs and of the Cheetah Centre. A day thoroughly enjoyed, and well spent indeed. Thanks Alan and The Ann van Dyk Cheetah Centre. We will definitely be back to visit again.

Visiting the Cheetah Centre is a very enjoyable experience. We attended the morning session, which starts with the cheetah run - 3 cheetahs chase a "target" being pulled down and up an cleared patch in the bush. There is also opportunity to have your photo taken with a cheetah, which is quite an intimate experience.

2 hour tour starts during which a guide takes you to visit the vultures, wild dogs and cheetahs in their respective camps. The wild dogs and cheetahs are fed during the visit and can be viewed up close and personal.

Even though the entrance fee is a bit pricey, it is really worthwhile and is a contribution to a worthy cause.

This facility is a must for both tourists and locals. They seem driven on conservation and the tour is a means of them educating the public as well as raising funds for the amazing work they do.

Great value and I plan to return many times in the future.

In a land of wonderful natural beauty and fantastic animals this is a must see for animal lovers. You get to go into the enclosures with the Cheetahs and at the end for a little extra your entire party can pet a cheetah. This is something that is really well worth the extra few rand for a once in a lifetime experience, at least for us Americans. The guide was wonderfully well versed in the animals habits and could answer any questions that were posed to her. We saw many beautiful and exotic animals and got to see them fed (go to the afternoon session to see this)and learned all about the animals as well. What a wonderful experience for anyone to see the work of this great group of devoted animal lovers and the beautiful animals in the centre.
