We enjoyed our day out at the Pretoria Zoo. Parking is safe and cheap. Entrance fee is reasonable for a whole day's entertainment.

Some of the facilities are in need of attention and modernisation but the animals are well cared for with adequate space. Some animals could do with companions though. The newer exhibits are world class.

My partner and I decided that a trip to Pretoria Zoo would be a good idea on Sunday the 09/06/2013. We were glad to see the weather was pleasant on that day. It was R66 per adult to get into the zoo. There were photographers there that took your photo and the photo-shopped zoo animals in the background. A great initiative to help support the zoo when you purchase the package for R150. We were amazed at the facilities, the animals and the enclosures. It's seldom that you see such big open enclosures for the animals to roam in and the animals that look so healthy as well. There is also a bigger variety of animals to see. It really was a great trip. Will definately go back in the future with the rest of our families.

We decided to visit the Pretoria Zoo as a family outing for my daughter's 5th birthday. It was her first time visiting a Zoo and she enjoyed every single moment of it. Safe parking is available if you go early. The facilities were of very high standard and rendered options to everyone's taste, from walking along the well layout Zoo loop, to hiring a stroller cart for the kids, to the availability of a golf cart for the people that just wanted to relax and enjoy the ride. The cable car was a very nice experience and well worth the money (and really inexpensive, so everybody can enjoy the ride!). Picnic areas made for a nice relaxing lunch on the grass but restaurants are also available. All the animals are in mint condition and really well looked after. Will defenately be visiting this Zoo more often in the weeks to come...inexpensive and really worth the effort to go!

I visited the Zoo with my kids and some friends in April 2013. It was such a wonderful day. Many of the enclosures have been upgraded and revamped, which shows off the animals in their "natural" habitat. The Zoo is very clean, has beautiful gardens with manicured lawns, very old, big trees and nice restaurants, ice cream and cold drink stalls. If you are tired of walking, there are golf carts to hire, which makes adds to the fun for the kids. The farmyard area (petting zoo) was a hit with the younger children. It is definitely a must see, when you are in Johannesburg!
