National Zoo, Pretoria is an amazing place, place for many different animals, birds, small dragons, fishes. It's a nice experience.

This zoo has got an amazing variety of animals, a koala-bear enclosure plus a full aquarium and reptile park. Really worth the money in comparison to the bland Johannesburg Zoo (in my opinion of course). The cages at this Pretoria zoo are designed in such a way that you can almost always see the animals, even if they are sleeping. The gardens and walkways are very well kept. The affordable cable car ride is a must, unless you are terribly fit to survive the steep climb to the lions :) - it's much easier to take a ride to the top and a leasurely stroll down. The little golf carts they have on offer is great for those who aren't fond of walking (although a bit pricey), and they have cute carts for kids too. About the only thing that isn't 100% great is the restaurant they have on site, but I guess with the masses of people that sometimes visit, they have to have the take-away system. I recommend taking a picnic basket, and checking feeding times before you visit - especially if you're taking kids.

A beautiful garden with all sorts of indigenous plants and flowers right in the middle of a city. Walk up to the waterfall and maybe you'll spot the pair of Verreaux Eagles that have made their home there.

The NZG is conducting valuable research into a number of threatened wildlife species and has collaborative programs with a number of overseas institutes. A very positive attitude towards the value of Zoos

Very modern Zoo, with all the animals of Africa plus more to view. Great aquarium, and lion den. Kids will love the play centre, and if the kids get tired the golf carts will do the trick. Tranquil setting under the trees to enjoy your lunch. Moneys worth.
