We love going to visit Irene Farm. I buy milk regularly from the farm stall.
The restaurant does an excellent buffet breakfast on the weekends, great value for money (R80 -R 90 per person), it sounds expensive but you have so much to choose from and everyone goes back for seconds, the atmosphere is what makes it. Do try and book, often times it can be pretty busy.
It is brilliant for kids! There are certain times when the cows are lead to be milked that you could get a wiff of cow poop, I think that is around 3ish. The restaurant is at Irene farm which is a working dairy farm. There are mist sprayers going for those hot days and fantastic play areas for young children. As long as you don't mind a sneaky chicken coming to check under your table for a crumb or two - it is lovely.
After your meal go for a stroll. If you have kids the path was are paved with bricks and they can bring along their bicycles or plastic scooters. Very family orientated. A small piece of tranquility in the city. - you can even pet the cows or watch them getting milked.
