“Give it a chance”
Reviewed May 5, 2013

I have recently visited Burgers Park and after all the stories I've been told about it and how unsafe it was, I found it rather pleasant.

As an Architectural student I have to explore these spaces that make up our city and this was one of the better places. I will admit the bathrooms where not in the best shape and that my personal feelings and experience in the park might differ from what other people experienced, but as far as litter and safety, I felt perfectly happy with it.

“No reason to visit here”
Reviewed March 6, 2013

Burgers Park is not worth a visit. There are many other beautiful parks in the Pretoria area to visit. The park is littered and not always maintained to the original Victorian standard. Melrose House across the street from the Park is well worth a visit, though.

“Gardens in the City Centre”
Reviewed February 3, 2013

Beautiful green gardens near city centre, with large old trees. Opposite Melrose house museum, that sometimes hosts a flee market of antiques that is quite interesting.

“Bad part of town to walk in”
Reviewed July 26, 2012

Many years ago Burgers Park used to be a small pretty little park in amongst a lot of high rise buildings in the heavily populated suburb of Sunnyside. It is still there, more neglected now but the area is no longer safe to walk around in without the strong likelihood of being mugged. Sunnyside is not a good tourist area anymore
