“very good!”
Reviewed June 22, 2014

Good points:
The room was very clean nice and the beds comfortable. We were lucky to have a very nice view.
The personal was friendly and the breakfast (buffet) very good!
Also good price.

Bad points:
Bad internet. The hotel has a ticket system not practical and the bathroom a bit small but ok for us.

Excellent service, clean and safe environment and friendly staff, good food too, I was very impressed that from my first step into the hotel, I was so welcome. The staff were quick and efficient, the rooms were clean and confortable, and very secure. The hotel is also well located with wonderful shops in close proximity, I never had problems going any where. I strongly recommend this great hotel to anyone looking for a peaceful stay away from home.

Room Tip: 13th floor

I was on the hunt for last minute accommodation as we had to visit Johannesburg suddenly, and was lucky to find availability at 224.

I read the reviews on Trip Advisor, and thought, the rooms can't be that small?! Hehe - I was wrong! They are indeed TINY, and there is no door between the bathroom and the bedroom - so not great if you are a new couple (luckily, we were not). Anyway - That is pretty much the only 'complaint' that I can make - small rooms and bathrooms, and no door. I didn't expect the ritz for the price we paid, but thought it was well worth the R600 to have a well located hotel close to attractions and our meetings. Friendly staff too.

If you want high class luxury, style and space, another hotel will be better, but if you are looking for a well priced and good value hotel, give this one a go.

Located near the embassies in Pretoria - so if you are on embassy business this is the best place to stay. The rooms, even though a little small, are clean, the beds comfortable. There is aircon available. At the price they charge this is really good value in Pretoria. The staff are helpful and pleasant. There is also secure parking available. Nice views of the Union Building.

This hotels decor and facilities really takes one by surprise. While the rooms are smaller than I would be 100% comfortable in, they are adequate, and are equipped with the facilities needed for an acceptable stay.
The F&B areas are impressive, and attention is given to guest comfort and enjoyment. Staff are pleasant and helpful.

Stayed here for 8 days, while working in Pretoria - as mentioned in other reviews, building is nothing special, but the service is really great. Breakfast is a must and everything I needed was provided for. The front desk was very friendly and so was every other person I ran into. Parking in the basement is insufficient and ran out of space twice (not to mention it is the tightest parking spots I have ever had to park in). All rooms have WIFI, and the maid service is safe and good.
Thank you!

Room Tip: Look for the high up rooms -- there is a lot of street noise from local partying on the week-ends.

we stayed during the 2010 worldcup and I had made reservations far in advance so early I believe they normally don't allow it, but one of the employees just ok'd it anyway and when we arrived we got the greatest reception, we walked in and the man that made my reservation was there and and once I said checking in Patterson a big smile appeared on his face and in this great happy voice he said Mr.Patterson we've been waiting for you! I guess they had been discussing whether or not we would actually come i'm glad we didn't let him down it was a great moment in our trip. ok now for the hotel no it's not a five star hotel but don't tell the staff because they work like it is. We had a great view out of our room, everything was clean the buffet they had was really good and they intoduced us to one of our favorite things Grapeteiser!!! when we go back to south africa i'm sure there will be one reason to go to pretoria and that will be to see our friends at hotel 224!
