Description: Restaurant Mosaic at The Orient Private Hotel is this country’s finest destination restaurant and private hotel. Award-winning South African Chef Chantel Dartnall is known for presenting the art of nature on her plates through her botanical cuisine to take you on a culinary tour of pure indulgence. Bask in the sophisticated atmosphere of exotic spaces; an Oriental style oasis set in lush and tranquil 280h of the Francolin Conservancy. The Mosaic cellar is unparalleled in this country with some of the most exceptional and rare wines from both South Africa and internationally.

“Out of this world”

We were treated to lunch at this outstanding restaurant, yesterday. Germaine, the sommelier took us into his cellar, and we immediately saw his passion and knowledge for wine and champagne. Our lunch took place in a private room, and we were looked after by pleasant, friendly but discreet staff. The food, in my opinion, knocked spots off any of the meals I have had in Michelin Star restaurants I have eaten in Burgundy, France. Highly recommend this fabulous restaurant.

“Food like no other.....”
Reviewed December 6, 2013 via mobile

Chantell Dartnell is one of best chefs in SA in my opinion. Even traveling extensively abroad I still have to find another chef with her attention to detail and her originality( in plating and taste) . We attented a champagne tasting here last night( hosted by their French sommelier) and the feast served to us afterwards was absolutely extraordinary. She is a culinary genius!

“Great expectations; met”
Reviewed November 17, 2013

A heavyweight food and wine experience was made most pleasant and memorable through warm, attentive service from the entire Mosaic family. Monsieur sommelier conducted the event masterfully; a maestro at work with expertly chosen, chilled bottle in hand. Exquisite attention to detail in the food portrayed a riveting, botanically led, sensory adventure.Crisp tempura quail, beetroot with horseradish, sweetbreads with truffle and a picture perfect slow cooked pork belly were all highlights, in addition to the wines paired with each; lifting the dishes through complimentary balance and character. Cheese and desserts in the courtyard fulfilled an experience that one longs to discover for the first time, over and over again. Gracious thanks to our hosts, your work is the fulfillment of dreams for your patrons.
