“One of the best in Pretoria”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2013

This is a good family run fine dining establishment. Although there are one or two better restuarants in Pretoria, it is one of the best restuarants in Pretoria if you are looking for gourmet food. The location is just a bit out of the way.

“Very good classic Belgian/French cuisine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 10, 2012

The Belgian owner/chef calls his approach to food bistrology. For me, the description works: simple but comfortable bistro setting, focus on rather traditional cuisine. We were a table of 11 colleagues/friends meeting in Pretoria from all over Africa, hoping to share a quality meal.
Chef Daniel came himself to the table with advise on the menu of the day. The service, although we had 11 different combinations of starters, main courses and desserts, was well timed, efficient and done with a big smile by the French speaking Congolese and Ivorian waiters. The food was classic, well executed, well presented, of very high quality indeed. Combined with very good South African wines, we had an excellent dinner in a good atmosphere. The most surpising element of the evening was perhaps the final bill. Including several bottles of upper-mid range wines, coffe and local brandy, we did not pay more than about 50$ per person. While this is clearly upmarket pricing for Pretoria, similar quality in any major European town would easily cost three to four times as much. As far as I am concerned: excellent value, though....

“Chef owned restaurant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 7, 2012

this is a great restaurant to dine at. The menu is a culinary masterpiece and one is able to dine like royalty. The prices are high but one is reminded that the quality and freshness of the dishes dampens the price somewhat. Great to do once a year splash!

“The waiting is over..”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 1, 2012

Finally we got to go to this seemingly famous establishment and boy-oh-boy, we now understand what the fuss has been about all these years. It offers a true fine-dining experience with a convivial chef in charge and is presented in charming surroundings bubbling with warm conversations all about. The food was technically right up to date in both its preparation and presentation and tasted absolutely superb. And - not having requested the pricing upfront - we unwittingly had set ourselves up for the further pleasant surprise of receiving a very moderately priced bill. All in all, it was a heavenly night - one of sheer foreplay - and which we shall now personally recommend to others.
