“Gorgeous retreat”
Reviewed June 14, 2013 via mobile

Stayed for 2 nights in a room facing the mountain. Was an excellent luxury retreat. Service was excellent, room service food of a very good standard. we stayed in winter but room was warm and cosy. Would not hesitate to stay on our next trip to CT.

Beside a beautiful setting this hotel has two outstanding restaurants. No need to go elsewhere. Hotel is set in a beautiful garden with fantastic views of Table Mountain. Staying here gave us a much broader view of the Cape Town area and the city was only a 15 minute cab trip.
Breakfast which was included in our room rate should not be missed. Dinner in the specialty restaurant was excellent but the regular hotel dinning room was just as good. You will not be sorry staying at the Vineyards.

we were blessed to have stayed in a garden junior suite over the weekend and enjoyed the whole experience from the friendly staff who made us feel welcome, whether they were on the reception or room maid, to the amazing breakfast (which shouldn't be missed) and restaurants which gave a wide choice of dinning experiences. our garden suite was set apart from the rest of the hotel which gave it a remote feel however if you want to really get away from the hubbub of a large hotel then try to book the river view suites which looked amazing.

our room was well appointed with a separate lounge area, his and her's flat screen tv's! and patio, which due to the weather was out of bounds, unless one wanted to take an ice cold shower...cape town winter weather!

the spa wasn't really functioning which was a disappointment to my wife but maybe this was due to the crazy weather we experienced!

Room Tip: river junior suite would be an ideal get away!

Excellent service from all staff at the hotel, excellent food and accommodation in a wonderful setting. Due to changed circumstances, we needed a room close to the lifts - this was arranged immediately. Nothing was too much trouble. We will return to this hotel if we ever return to Cape Town and would not hesitate to recommend it.

We stayed at the Vineyard while on holiday in Cape Town. Its a beautiful hotel, with a great location. It's within walking distance of shops, however, you need to have a car to get to the CBD and to the tourist hotspots. I love hotels that offer valet parking, and this one did not disappoint. The reception area has that old world charm, clean and the staff, friendly. The weekend was rainy and rather cold, and I must say that the rooms were warm and cozy! I had a room facing the garden, and once I had put on my white fluffy robe, I spent a sometime sipping my rooibos tea and watching the rain. I loved the fact that the room has a large ,deep tub, for those of us that appreciate a good bubble bath, but also has a nice big shower. The Square restaurant serves superb food and the decor is absolutely impressive. I love the little sitting areas and we spent a few afternoons there having cake and tea. Unfortunately, due to the rain, we couldn't go out to explore the gardens. I guess I'll have to do that on my next visit. They do a very impressive spread at breakfast! We were literally spoilt for choice during our entire stay, my only objection, was the rather poor service at breakfast! A lot of the time it just felt like they blatantly ignored you and you had to practically stand on the table to get some attention. Despite the appalling breakfast service, the hotel is gorgeous and I would definitely stay here again.

Hi

Thank you so much for this posting. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay and our hotel. The gardens are definitely worth exploring.

The breakfast is amazing and all those baked items, about 30+ of them, are all baked from scratch daily in our bakery. We have embarked on a program to address breakfast service, especially over weekends.

We look forward to welcoming you back when the weather is better and one can find the tortoises.

Kind regards

Roy Davies

Whether business or pleasure this place delivers. Super friendly staff that engage you like an old friend. Excellent rooms with dramatic views of table mountain. I recommend either a Garden Suite or Mountain View Suite. In the summer the pool is amazing and the gym, when not over crowded by locals workingout with trainers, is top notch. Dining at the hotel has never disappointed. We had an important, although small, corporate event there this week and everything went perfectly. Thanks Christina! I will be back soon!

If you want to be close to the city centre but require peace and tranquility then this is the place to stay.
Located in the Newlands area of Cape Town this hotel is pure 5 star quality at a sensible price. Service is probably the best I have ever encountered. The rooms are furnished to a high standard and the service is excellent.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the mountains.
