The great thing about this lodge is the facilities and the pretty grounds. I stayed here for our company year end function and I would say the conferencing rooms, food are of a good standard, especially for a 3 star hotel. Some of the rooms were better than others and most had been upgraded with air conditioning and semi-upgraded bathrooms. The hotel falls down in the finer details, though eg the swimming pool is a bit 'slimy', the tv in the rooms is very small and old technology (although I didn't use it). A good standard for the price though. The service is okay ; the staff sometimes seemed a bit 'clueless' and misinterpreted our orders at times. Overall I would recommend the hotel for the price charged.

Room Tip: I was in room 201 which was quite spacious and had a bath with a shower curtain for showers. Some of the other rooms had nicer showers but no bath.

Very nice and friendly people.
Catering OK.
Lodge needs to be 'revamped', especially the rooms...
Price/quality OK

Room Tip: rooms 15- 24 are located on a quiet side of the estate

We stayed over at Glenburn Lodge for a night as we were attending a wedding nearby. Honestly for the price we paid, I braced myself for a very mediocre experience but I was really pleasantly surprised!
Only 40 min from JHB, it feels like you are a million miles away from the city. The vibe is chilled and laid back, but the staff were excellent - friendly, efficient, and always willing to go out of their way. The rooms are basic but clean, the breakfast is definitely 4 star, and the bar is cute. Terrific value for money - a rarity. We will be back !!!

Room Tip: ask for rooms in the 200's - they are on second floor, have a cute balcony and overlook the grounds

We were attending a family wedding at the Kloofzicht, another hotel in the Guvon chain and we decided to stay at the Glenburn Lodge because we have two children. We had booked a family suite and then when arrived we asked if we could have a chalet at it was much more spacious and had two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living area with self-catering facilities and a little balcony at the rear with beautiful views of the river. The deer, monkeys and colourful birds were often seen. There was no problem changing accommodation at short notice. The chalet beds and linen were very comfortable and clean and we each had a large safe that was more than adequate for all our personal belongings.

The service from all the staff was excellent and breakfast time was a real treat with freshly prepared fruit and a friendly chef cooking the hot stuff. Nothing was too much trouble and my unusual request for skimmed milk was taken very seriously and produced each day.

There was plenty of family fun entertainment in the hotel gardens with putt putt, chess, swimming pools and walks. Jaco Prinsloo, Front of House Manager offered to take us on a buggy ride tour of the grounds and that was a fabulous time spent seeing the Bushwillow tented camp, the wedding chapel, conference facilities, beauty spa, gym, wildlife and the Crocodile River. The reserve is home to zebra, buck, girrafe, hippo and monkeys.

The Kloofzicht can be accessed by foot, over a high ridge, or by a short 10 minute car ride. It's worth a visit to experience the contrast between it's five star rating and the Glenburn Lodge rated as three star. We found that we were eating much later in the evenings, after the hotel dining rooms had closed and we did find good restaurants nearby.

If you are looking for good family accommodation in the Muldersdrift area we can recommend the Glenburn Lodge for value, quality and service.

Room Tip: Great self catering family chalet accommodation

We had one full day and it wasn't enough! Service and staff for 3* was excellent, no trouble when asked for extras and always a smile. We were upgraded to a garden suite which was nice and clean, large bathroom, comfy bed and airconditioning in room. Pool was just up the path and refreshing and clean. The spa was a wonderful experience with Susan giving me an amazing back, neck and shoulder massage. I was almost asleep while this amazing woman was working on my shoulders.
The chef is a culinary artist that hopefully won't get "stolen" from Glenburn Lodge, I couldn't get enough of his food, he knows his stuff and we will DEFINITELY go back as soon as we can.
