We were attending a family wedding at the Kloofzicht, another hotel in the Guvon chain and we decided to stay at the Glenburn Lodge because we have two children. We had booked a family suite and then when arrived we asked if we could have a chalet at it was much more spacious and had two large bedrooms, two bathrooms, a large living area with self-catering facilities and a little balcony at the rear with beautiful views of the river. The deer, monkeys and colourful birds were often seen. There was no problem changing accommodation at short notice. The chalet beds and linen were very comfortable and clean and we each had a large safe that was more than adequate for all our personal belongings.

The service from all the staff was excellent and breakfast time was a real treat with freshly prepared fruit and a friendly chef cooking the hot stuff. Nothing was too much trouble and my unusual request for skimmed milk was taken very seriously and produced each day.

There was plenty of family fun entertainment in the hotel gardens with putt putt, chess,swimming pools and walks. Jaco Prinsloo, Front of House Manager offered to take us on a buggy ride tour of the grounds and that was a fabulous time spent seeing the Bushwillow tented camp, the wedding chapel, conference facilities, beauty spa, gym, wildlife and the Crocodile River. The reserve is home to zebra, buck, girrafe, hippo and monkeys.

The Kloofzicht can be accessed by foot, over a high ridge, or by a short 10 minute car ride. It's worth a visit to experience the contrast between it's five star rating and the Glenburn Lodge rated as three star. We found that we were eating much later in the evenings, after the hotel dining rooms had closed and we did find good restaurants nearby.

If you are looking for good family accommodation in the Muldersdrift area we can recommend the Glenburn Lodge for value, quality and service.

We had one full day and it wasn't enough! Service and staff for 3* was excellent, no trouble when asked for extras and always a smile. We were upgraded to a garden suite which was nice and clean, large bathroom, comfy bed and airconditioning in room. Pool was just up the path and refreshing and clean. The spa was a wonderful experience with Susan giving me an amazing back,neck and shoulder massage. I was almost asleep while this amazing woman was working on my shoulders.
The chef is a culinary artist that hopefully won't get "stolen" from Glenburn Lodge, I couldn't get enough of his food, he knows his stuff and we will DEFINITELY go back as soon as we can.
