Peermont Metcourt Hotel at Emperors Palace
Ranked #9 of 26 Hotels in Kempton Park
Reviewed November 5, 2012

The hotel provides a shuttle from OR Tambo - a welcome relief after a long flight.

I spent two nights here, despite my advance booking, I had to wait over 3 hours before they could allocate a room. The staff were very friendly at the desk but trying to get a coffee to stay awake was another matter, finding staff during the morning was difficult. However, the buffet breakfast was excellent.

Part of the Emperors Palace complex, it was well-placed for a conference that I attended and an easy walk through the maze of corridors to the other hotels and food court. However I would NOT stay here unless it was for a reason, there are other better-placed hotels in Jo'burg.

Flight path noise was a problem with the threshold of the runway visible from the room. The windows I wasn't able to open which was annoying, not all of us enjoy just having air-con. The room was compact but had everything with a curtain separating the bedroom from the en-suite facilities.

We attended a function at Emperors Palace and stayed over in the Peermont Metcourt. The room is small but adequate for a short stay. The hotel is well positioned and close to entertainment. The service is good and the breakfast is excellent. We had a good night sleep on comfortable beds and there was very little noise. This hotel seems popular with international tourists. Perhaps because of it's close proximity to the airport.

My rating should be between average and very good - the breakfast increase the rating and I should praise it! great choice, including for diabetics but no gluten free which is the situation everywhere. Otherwise, superb choice!

Good location for overnight stay although, no dinner available and you have to go somewhere else in a food court .. or skip it

Rooms - well, if you survive the long wait at the reception and get a decent room from the start - all good. It took us some time to get the room key, the room was on the first floor and on the top, the toilet and shower shared a door - to the left is one and to the right the other and you are just on the street, so we asked for another room and the second one, on the 5th fl was better. No internet access though.. The manager at the reception was the only helpful guy (if you are dead tired after waiting for like 15min for a check-in and they try for a min or so to read your family name to welcome you by name is somewhat too much)

Room Tip: not on the 1st fl

Stayed here for a Conference at the Emperors Complex.
The room was very good and excellent value for money. There are many Restaurant choices in the complex and with the regular shuttle service to the Airport, you do not need to hire a car.
The only negative was with checking in due to a system failure- we could not check in and had to return later - even then the system was very slow and we had to wait around 20 minutes to check in.
In the room everything was clean and operational.
There are better hotels in the area but I doubt there is better value.

We arrived at johanesburg at seven in the evening arriving from a tiring but exciting safari in Kruger national park. We landed around 8 in the evening but still it felt safe to walk to the bus terminal which is connected to the airport. We waited for a the black emperors palace bus which arrived quite quickly and where whisked away to the hotel which was not very far. Arriving at the front desk my wife told the front desk that we were on our honeoon and were upgraded to the executive suite and what a suite it was two bathrooms a spa a seperate lounge and two TVs. This was by far the most luxurious suite we have stayed in south Africa and the facilities in Monte casino are amazing casino cinema etc it is great in a city like Johannesburg to have entertainment in one place! The breakfast spread was huge in the morning on all honesty I cannot find a single fault with montecasino or the complex highly recommended if you are looking foe some where luxurious stay in Johannesburg.

Arrived late at night via the shuttle from Jo'burg Airport. Hotel feels a bit like a castle with the internal brick and large doors in corridor. Room was perfect for a family of four. 2 x Queen beds. Lovely thick doonas. Dark - very important after a long flight. Unusual lighting in the bathroom? Click clack plastic like flooring in the room. Fine for in and out travel. Breakfast was fine, nothing flash. Only gripe was being charged at check out for kids breakfast. We were not the only ones this was happening to. I had booked online, others had booked and prepaid through travel agents. Both parties were under the impression that there was no charge for the children. Felt like a rip off and the staff were not interested in arguing.

I stayed at Peermont Metcourt at Emperors Palace for one night in July 2012 prior to the commencement of my tour. The shuttle bus picks you up at the airport and drops you at the door of the hotel maybe 5-10 minutes drive. The shuttle runs every 20 minutes Having just got off a plane all I wanted was food and sleep and I got both without going anywhere else.

The front desk check in and check out was efficient and without incidence.

The room was a room I could not complain, the bed very comfortable I experienced no outside noise from people or planes or noise from any of the other rooms.Having said that once I left my room and was making way to Emperors Palace for some food the noise started a very loud thud thud noise but that soon passed.

Emperoprs Palace is all connected so you do not need to go outside and once in the centre court you have a choice of eateries being seafood, fasf food hot dogs etc cafe style eating.

The casino is there but not the only eatery around I personally didn't see the inside of the casino.

Emperors Palace also houses a movie theatre convention facilities (when I was there a quilt show was taking place thankfully it was closed when I was there) as what we call sideshow alley where you can play on the games and win prizes all in all just full of entertainment and all under cover.

Breakfast is buffet style and there is no way you are going to starve be it hot or cold breakfast .

I would stay here again and in fact while in transit with my tour I again found myself staying over the road at the Peermont Metcourt for 1 night .
